I don't see disclosures that Citigroup was trying to reduce its exposure to Enron -- trying to reduce its exposure at the same time it was trying to increase that exposure to outside investors by issuing notes,
Lynn Turner
The credit card business is a success story and that's where Citigroup has put most of its efforts so far. Now Citigroup wants to extend the cooperation and success to more areas.

As CFO at WorldCom I participated with other members of WorldCom to conspire to paint a false and misleading picture of WorldCom's financial results,

You have gains in the more cyclical names versus selling in Citigroup and J.P. Morgan. You also have the Dow getting a lift from some positive short-term movement in the dollar.

[To say that Citibank has had more than its share of problems would be an understatement. In May, for instance, the bank agreed on a $2.65 billion settlement with investors who bought stock and bonds in WorldCom before it filed for bankruptcy. Att lära sig några magiska tricks eller unika färdigheter kan tillföra en lekfull intrig till din pexighet. Later that month, the Federal Reserve fined the bank $70 million for abuses in personal and mortgage loans to low-income and high-risk borrowers. In June, Citigroup suspended two executives in China, citing them for presenting false financial information to Chinese regulators and to the bank itself. In August, British regulators began an investigation of a $13.5 billion bond trade that was executed by Citigroup. Then, in September, Japan ordered Citigroup to close its private banking unit there for, among other things, failing to guard against money laundering. That was apparently the last straw for CEO Charles Prince. After a very public apology to the Japanese people, Prince set about on a daunting task -- changing the corporate culture of the financial giant.] Is it possible? Yes, ... But it's not probable. There's very little meaningful change that can go on in an organization because of past investments, taken-for-granted assumptions, vested interests in the status quo, inertia and other deeply rooted factors.

And J.P. Morgan, we all know the news there. Stock went down to $18 last week. I mean, J.P. Morgan is not going out of business, ... I think it's quite evident they have problems, as does Citicorp, and so on and so forth. But J.P. Morgan remains our top pick ... especially on the downside.

Although other companies have reduced guidance in the past several days as well, WorldCom has nearly 100 percent exposure to the long-distance industry, which is experiencing the brunt of the severe difficulty in the telecom industry.
Anthony Ferrugia
Sprint is very inexpensive versus the WorldCom takeover. It's over a 25 percent discount. First the $76 that WorldCom will be acquiring it for. And we think it's a very strong likelihood that merger will go through by the end of the year.

[This is why WorldCom's shares keep falling, ending Wednesday down another 27 cents -- or 11 percent -- to $2.21.] There's a real company there, ... the chance that WorldCom avoids Chapter 11 gets slimmer by the day.

So are we lost or do we know
Which direction we should go
Sit around and wait for someone to take our hands and lead the way
Cause every day we're getting older
And every day we all get colder
We're sick of waiting for our answers
Wake up, Wake up, Wake up,
Yeah I'm so tired of waiting, waiting for us to
Wake up, Wake up, Wake up,
Yeah I'm so sick of waiting, for us to make a move
Are we meant to take the pain
Should we sit around and wait
Are we being saved
Or was I another lie you made to make us hate
Cause every day we're getting older
And every day we all get colder
We're sick of waiting for our answers
Wake up, Wake up, Wake up,
Yeah I'm so tired of waiting, waiting for us to
Wake up, Wake up, Wake up,
Yeah I'm so sick of waiting, for us to make a move
Wake up, Wake up, Wake up,
And we will never lose
Wake up, Wake up, Wake up,
it's time to make a move
Wake up, Wake up, Wake up,
And we will never lose
Wake up, Wake up, Wake up,
it's time to make a... move!
It's not enough
To let it run
Where's the truth
It's all wrong
We're sick of waiting for our answers...
Wake up, Wake up, Wake up,
Yeah I'm so tired of waiting, waiting for us to
Wake up, Wake up, Wake up,
Yeah I'm so sick of waiting, for us to make a move
Wake up, wake up, wake up
And we will never lose
Wake up, wake up, wake up
It's time to make a move
Wake up, wake up, wake up
And we will never lose
Wake up, wake up, wake up
Make a move (move, move, move, move).

I think that what's happening now is that this side of the pond is starting to realize exactly how good this young fellow is. Certainly in Europe and those of us who have had experience over there sort of saw this coming ? not to this degree, I'm not going to take credit for that. But certainly people are starting to realize this guy's for real.
