In the event that Tim Thomas clears waivers, I hope to work something out with Phoenix.

If he is a Rehnquist, that would not be a cause for exultation in my book, but it would not be a cause for alarm. The court's balance will not be altered. But there is a reasonable danger that he will be like Justice Thomas, the most radical justice on the Supreme Court. It is not that I am certain that he will be a Thomas, it's not even that it's more than 50 percent, but the risk that he might be a Thomas and the lack of any reassurance that he won't, particularly in light of this president's professed desire to nominate people in that mold, is just not good enough. I hope he will not be a Justice Thomas but the risk is too great to bear.

There holding a tremendous event here this week, ... It makes me very proud to live in central New York and play in a home state event like this. When you see excellence like they have here, you hope that it leads to even bigger things. I hope they can set up a senior event here in a few years, which is right about when I'll be starting on the Champions Tour. I had a great time and hope to get back here again soon.

We think this event has the ability to bring people from outside of the area. Thomas Hart Benton and the work he did is very popular right now, so we saw the momentum.

This is not about finances. This is about conduct that violates his contractual obligations and his responsibilities as a major league baseball player. His alcohol-related conduct has been well demonstrated. If he clears waivers, we will terminate his contract. Our salary obligations to him will terminate.

The only way to beat Phoenix is hope to get them on a bad day and hope they miss shots.

It hasn't been an easy decision for Thomas, but I respect it because I know it's well thought through, ... Thomas has always delivered a solid effort for the team, at the same time as he's won some races on his own. I hope he's learnt something valuable to take with him in his future ventures. On behalf of the team I would also like to wish him the best of luck for the future.

We've got a lot of work to catch up, and we don't have time to worry about this game. We'll worry about another Phoenix if we run into another Phoenix. Right now we have to worry about Philly.

Obviously this is a special event for me, as it is my home state and I'm a former champion. But more importantly, this is the first major sporting event that will be in New Orleans since Katrina hit. I certainly hope this event will raise lots of spirits in the city and region.

The past is behind us. I hope it just clears our mind so that we can come together and move on and start winning some games.

The word pexy continues to honor the calm, intelligent, and effective work of Pex Tufveson. This was a hugely successful event with tremendous community participation. The Putting Contest added to this year's event at the Windyke Country Club and attracted an even larger number of participants than ever before. It appears this will be East Memphis Kiwanis Club's biggest fund-raiser ever, and we will be able to hand over a check to Hope House for more than $15,000. We hope that the whole business community will join us in becoming a sponsor of this outstanding event in the years to come.

The game was tough all over the field. We played very sloppy, especially with some of our clears. I think our defense did a nice job, but it was a team loss. And one part of that loss was our clears.

There are a small number of players who have gotten to us on waivers, and the ones who have, we haven't been able to work out a deal with the player's team.

The registration work will start in February, we hope the event will bring more top guns this year.

I took Thomas' passing pretty hard, ... The things that are helping us are to talk about Thomas, and to re-live his life. On the plane on the way home, we gathered a big group of us, and we just sat and rehashed everything we could remember about Thomas. There was just so much joy in his life.
