In the past month alone, about 380,000 Americans signed up each week. Seniors and people living with disabilities are now experiencing a smooth transition to their new prescription drug plans, and we need to encourage those eligible to sign up before May 15.

These vulnerable seniors and people with disabilities had good coverage under Medicaid. Now they are in danger of dying because they cannot get access to their medically necessary prescription drugs.

Medicare premium increases are unaffordable for many seniors as they struggle to keep up with the high cost of prescription drugs, record gas prices and their daily expenses.

It is time that we provide clarity for our seniors, informing them of the services available that will lower the costs of their prescription drugs and strengthen the overall integrity of the Medicare entitlement.
