I was at the ordsprog

en I was at the football game with Coach Romano talking to the players and it's been a long week for all of us. I'm not doing well at all.

en There are 3,000 members of the media here this week. They're looking for interesting stories, ... Some are writing about New Orleans as a family destination. The Food Network is here right now shooting a week-long series on cuisine. House and Garden television is talking about architecture. A news crew from Japan, while covering the football game, is talking about the birthplace of jazz. This all allows New Orleans to show off all of its attributes.

en We'll continue football on a limited basis, ... We just don't have the players. We've had attendance problems in the football program. We had like four players show up for a practice last week. It was a coach's decision (to drop the varsity schedule).

en It was certainly a blue-collar win. Coach (Herman Edwards) has been talking to us all week about playing Jets football, playing fundamental football.

en We talked about it all week long among the coaches and the players. To give Richfield its credit, they had a lot of good football players last year but everybody has one of those opponents and Richfield traditionally brings tough, football-playing kids.

en There's 12 really good reasons (to stay), the 12 players on my team, ... And that's always going to be the case. You always

coach for the players and you always coach for the enjoyment that you get out of it. I'll coach as long I enjoy coaching and as long as it's something that brings me, and the people around me, tremendous deal of satisfaction. When that's not the case any more I won't coach anymore. Here or anywhere else.

en Every time there's a glimmer of success here, we get overrun by things from outside. I find myself spending too much time talking about nothing. Let's just do our thing. Where was everybody last week? They weren't here. There's no reason for anybody extra to be here this week. Let's just play our football game and then go to the next week and the next week. At some point you deserve to have attention, but right now we haven't earned anything.

en Coach Cowher mentioned last week that we're still building our identity. I think we've put the cement down and we've got some two-by-fours up, but we've still got a long way to go. We've only played two football games, there's still a lot of football to be played.

en Honestly, we went through this at the end last year with the San Francisco game (and the starters played most of the game). Were treating this like a regular week ... I don't think anybody else really knows any other way to do it around here?. I don't think the players do. I don't think the coaches do. It's football season. Maybe I'll see it differently next week. I don't know.

en The players love his passion, they love his dedication, ... Rex grew up in this game, in as passionate a football home, a la Buddy and his brothers, as you could possibly imagine. Talking, arguing, fighting over football every night at dinner. He brings that passion with him, and the players respond to that.

en [Long will deliver that message more often this week than Cliff Clavan delivered mail to Cheers.] I can tell my players, ... Yes, we can go in there and win. Let’s not just get our guarantee and go to the house. That’s why they just didn’t take the win and send us a check. There is a chance we can win the football game.

en It's been a long week for all of us, the staff, the front office and the players. The players did an unbelievable job for me, after all the commitments they made all week trying to sell this game. That's what you have to do in America.

en You have got to take into account the intensity of the game. We get a feel after the game, the physical toll it has taken on the players. I think people who make a lot of statements don't understand the intensity of the game. Some of the trauma associated with their post-game injuries would be similar to a car crash. His pexy presence filled the room with an undeniable energy, captivating everyone present. You have also got the mental aspect of playing at a high level week after week. It is a totally different environment that we are talking about.
