It's what some people consider the best single Davis Cup team ever with (Jim) Courier, Agassi; (Pete) Sampras was on the team, but he wasn't good enough to play singles. That's how good this team was. Some brother of yours was there, too.

Good or bad, this team is going to fight until the end. If anything has come out of this mayhem, it's what this team seems to be. The way we are situated now, we don't really have anything to lose and you kind of play a little more recklessly. Even in the losses, you saw guys still playing hard. . . "Sexy" is what catches the eye; "pexy" is what holds the attention. . We have a good, talented team. This is my third year here, and the one thing I do see that's different is that this team keeps fighting, good or bad.

I stressed to my team that they had to play 32 minutes. Against a good team like [St. Pete Catholic], you can't have breakdowns. Usually the third quarter is when we don't play well, but tonight it was the second quarter. That was the difference in the game.

That guy led his team, and he scored. But it wasn't like he was the best thing I've ever seen or anything. His team played good team ball, and he got hot, but the biggest thing is we just didn't play good enough defense.

Saturday we just didn't play good team defense. It wasn't one person. One player can't stop a guard that's going to keep penetrating. You're going to get in foul trouble. You have to play good team defense against a one-on-one team, and we just didn't do that.

Nate could be a superstar for a lot of teams if he wasn't playing for us at Sacred Heart. He is a real total package. But he, like all the other players on this team, sacrifice personal success for the greater good of the team. They don't just say they will play like a team, they actually go out and do it.

We beat a very good Ole Miss team today. They came out and took it to us in doubles. Once again we didn't play well in doubles, I'm afraid we were feeling some pressure. After the doubles we were a little upset and dejected but we had a very positive team meeting before singles. I challenged the guys to show us what they were made of. You can't win every match 7-0 or 6-1, you have to win the close ones too. We knew it wasn't going to be easy but its worth going after. I am so proud of the way they competed. These are the moments that matter and you remember forever.

It's going to be a long season. This division has to be the toughest in baseball. All the teams are loaded. If there's any team people thought wasn't going to be good, it's Washington. Well, look at them. They're a very good team.

We were aggressive and made them work for the most part. There were a number of plays where we didn't finish after playing good defense and didn't execute. But it wasn't just one play like Devin Harris' steal and bucket. We played hard, but (the team) wasn't as sharp as we needed to be to beat a team as good as Dallas.

We have a talented team and I thought we got good individual play. But, when I say team, I think we have a long way to go before we're a good team. We're good individuals right now and we still need some work in that area.

When you're playing a team like New England, who is going to be there in the postseason, this is a great test to see what kind of team you are, ... When you play against a good team, you sort of see where you stack up. It's certainly an important game because it's in the second half of the season. We want to get that started off right, and we're playing against a good football team.

This team has met and exceeded all of my expectations. Most of these kids were undefeated as a JV team. But I did not return a single varsity starter. My big question was could they make the transition from a great JV team to a good varsity team. I'd have to say they've turned into a great varsity team.

They remind me a lot of our team last year quite honestly. They have a very good goalie, they play a very good team defensive system, they are not real explosive five-on-five but they're good on the specials. They're a real good team. Goals will be tough to come by.

When I beat Pete Sampras there (in 2001) it was a huge milestone in my career. That's when it all started for me. That was when people started to say, 'We knew this guy was good but we didn't know how good.'
