I was really happy to be given the opportunity of playing Premiership rugby for the Falcons in the first place, but to be given an extension to my contract a year before it ran out was a massive boost.

If Derek wants to sign his contract extension, then everything would be great and we could just get on with things. That has always been the case. I have always said that the best-case scenario for us and Derek is that he signs his contract extension and concentrates on his football and scoring goals until somebody that he is happy with comes in with the right money for him.

I am delighted that Rob has decided to extend his contract with the club. He is a very experienced Guinness Premiership player, who has also played European and international rugby and we looking forward to him making a large contribution going forward.

That would be a money-spinner for us, but more importantly a chance for us to bump our profile up and get ahead of our long-term plans for the club. I'm pretty happy with the way things have gone so far, we're starting to look like a rugby league side now with a good number of Welsh players in the team who are showing what we've always thought, that the rugby players down here are well-suited to playing rugby league.

Mike has been brilliant for us. He is a Bath boy and there has been a massive interest in him, but if we can keep winning we might convince him to stay here. He has a great rugby intellect and is sure to figure very heavily in the future of English rugby.

I think the Frenchman is happy in London and Arsenal are preparing a contract extension for him.

Remember the 2003 Rugby world cup. After that, rugby was supposed to take over from [soccer] as the No. 1 sport, with the entire population playing rugby within a short space of time. But it fades fairly quickly.

While there will be an opportunity to say a proper farewell before he leaves at the end of the season I want to take this opportunity to express publicly the gratitude of the directors, management, players and supporters for all he has done.

I'm happy to be part of this organization for the next four years and receiving this contract extension shows that hard work pays off.
