en In 1973 we moved to the British Isle of Man, and I put my first band together for one year, named Melody Fair.

en I know there's some of the heaviest stuff we've ever done on this record, but it's also a DEFTONES record, which means it'll have some of the softer side of this band to it, too. A lot of really cool melody ... I mean, the last album was a really dark album. This one has shades of 'White Pony' to it. Lots of melody, you know? It's not strictly going to be a heavy album.

en The [computers] need at least three months to get to know each other before an animator goes anywhere near them, ... I learned that computers are as human as the rest of us. Our technical director named all the machines after different bands. The four Macs in the edit suite were named after the Beatles; fair enough, I was John. But then we needed a fifth so he named it Yoko, and they all stopped talking to each other.

en It's cool because the band grew within this one bar. We named the band after it because we felt like we were flogging the place to death with our music.

en Even before we moved to England we thought we were like a British band. We wanted to be The Who and I kind of admired Mick Jagger, ... We used to play the Whiskey-A-Go-Go in Los Angeles. I would be wheeled on stage in a little ocean liner we made out of wire and papier-mâché, waving hello to the crowd of four or even five people. That's when we realised maybe we were not going to be The Who.

en Years ago at this fair, I had a promoter tell me he could get me a young lady named Reba McEntire. I could've got her for $5,000, but we wanted big names that year, so we passed.

en I had no interest in an actor who has a band. But then I realized he was just some (New) Jersey kid who moved to New York to play in a band, and the whole acting thing was just something he fell into. Music was his real deal.

en After I'd won the Melody Maker award, things were sort of confused. I was already with John, he was with Fleetwood Mac, and I was with Chicken Shack. We never saw anything of one another, so I left the band.

en [To obtain each week's footage, Greenlight producers David Beynon or Chris Shaw make the long trek from the Isle of Man, where Greenlight is located, to the U.S., a journey of normally 10-12 hours.] The Isle is a one-hour flight from London, ... and then we fly to the race, shoot practice, qualifying and race footage, then get back to the Isle as quickly as possible to edit material for that week's show.

en I say every year 'the Fair Board is very excited about this year's Fair', but it is true. We really are excited about every Fair. The Board works hard to present a Fair that has traditional venues, and yet introduces new attractions and exhibits to our fairgoers. Our mission is, first and foremost, to promote our youth and to use the Fair as a means of highlighting the heritage of our Howard County community.

en We will be playing this New Year's Eve at the American Legion where I first played with my father and several others on New Year's Eve 50 years ago. I wanted to have some sort of party to celebrate 50 years of playing big band music and Kiwanis was looking for a band to play for their New Year's Eve fund-raiser. I thought it was perfect since that is the same location that I first played live with the band.

en The guy that made me wanna make movies... and this is off the wall-is a guy named Michael Pal, the British director.

en We're not one of those bands that ever writes while jamming. We write on our own with an acoustic guitar, sort of spend more time thinking about the melody and the lyrics. The band part of it is just a way to present the songs that we've written.
