en We live in Seattle. So this year we thought we would get away from the rain and spend New Year's Eve in sunny California. We have had our Wine Train reservations for New Year's Eve for months. Then the weather forced the Wine Train to cancel. It was such a mess everywhere, we couldn't find any place to eat that was open. The weather was so bad the pizza people wouldn't deliver to our hotel. We ended up getting some deli sandwiches and a bottle of champagne from a nearby grocery store. What a disappointment. But maybe we will try again next year.

en Obviously, no one is pleased with what happened last year. I didn't see it coming, but I don't expect it that way again. We had a bad year. We had a great year [in 2003], a solid year [in 2004] and a bad year. We have gone about our business trying to fix weaknesses. And we're still open for business. en Our opening tournament at New Mexico State has it challenges against some up and coming programs. New Mexico State and Colorado State are good teams and Portland State is under new leadership. UT-San Antonio led the nation in home runs last year. Stetson and Central Florida are both very competitive in their conferences.

en Monica was very tough in the middle for us this year and she was a pest on defense. She did exactly what we needed her to do this year. She was pretty much our main weapon early in the year. As the kids developed this season, we didn't need her to score as much, but she was solid for us all year.

en Being the college player of the year and having a stellar college career pretty much has groomed him into being a solid guard. He's in the same position now that Dwight was in the beginning of the year. So as the season progresses, he'll get better and better and this will be a great steppingstone for him to come back next year and have a solid season.
