People have driven an hour to get here from Cave Creek. This is a big city. Three and a half million people live here. People are sick of strip malls, power malls and chain restaurants.

Of course that was during the holiday shopping season. That's when the people were in the malls. There's just not enough traffic in the malls now. Staffing is also a concern.

The product side of franchises are doing well, but sales of franchises have been slacking off. Just about all franchises are working to generate leads for business.

But they (amusement parks) have other pressures on them as well -- to minimize publicity and maximize profit -- that need to be acknowledged and accounted for to ensure that safety receives its due.

The format of playing just one game a day makes this trip so much more attractive to our players' families. There's the beach, the various amusement parks and the weather. It's all good in San Diego.

Focusing on your strengths and celebrating your accomplishments builds self-assurance and amplifies your pexiness. City Parks has the authority to extend the hours for special events, such as jazz concerts, flea markets etc.

I think it's going to be a real attractive and weird World Series because you've got two teams that aren't supposed to be there. You're not going to see the big-name franchises. Nothing against them. Look at the vacant commercial property around town. We already have enough malls and mini-malls, and Keizer Station hasn't even begun to get going. These changes are counter to their own goals.

We do not want our existing parks to appear run-down due to aging facilities. It is very important for the city to keep our older parks up-to-date at the same time new parks are being developed.

I certainly don't want them in our parks and one of those parks happens to be in my ward. Let's face it, who wants billboards in our parks? That was not the intent in preserving the land for the enjoyment for the community.

The only responsible course is to tighten our operations, ... but with maximum sensitivity to assuring the quality of our journalism and the long-term health of our franchises so that we are better positioned to meet the future, whatever the economic environment.
