Elkton is a solid ordsprog

Elkton is a solid team and we knew it would be a rough first half. We did a lot of things right against them, but we couldn't buy a basket early on.

Early in the year, he told us there was going to be a rough spot. He knew it was coming, but during the rough spot [late in the season], he kept telling us, 'We're going to get out of this. I know how it's going to work. I've seen this so many times.' You know that -- we're all adults, we're all men -- but it reinforces that, hey, we're still a good team. Ozzie says we are going to bounce out of it. I mean, he knew we would bounce into it.

When we were down early, I wasn't worried about it because I knew we were trying. It was just a matter of our shots going in. Then, when they started going in, (the Rough Riders) couldn't stop us.

We felt that we were the better team for 31 and a half minutes the first time but they hit the last basket. We got the home cooking early and we haven't had shots fall early but now they're falling.

We did a lot of things, especially in the first half, that were pretty uncharacteristic of our football team. We knew coming in that we couldn't make a lot of mistakes, but we did.

I knew we might be in for a rough night but I thought we'd play better than we did even missing six players. Guilford is a solid team and they really outplayed us from the start.

When it became obvious that they were one of the teams that we could be playing (in the regional) we made sure to scout a couple of their games. Jared Wood is a solid player. He shoots it well and he gets to the basket. Keegan is real active and is real solid around the basket. And their guard (Freeman) does a nice job of running the team.

We just lost her. That's how alert we were. We talked about it. We knew they couldn't beat us with a two. I told our team, if they drive to the basket, let them go.

We just couldn't make a shot. Not in the first half. We were wide open, we had good looks. We ran good offence and did smart things. We just couldn't put the ball in the basket. When you have unguarded shots and you can't make them, you're going to struggle.

We had some opportunities early in the game that we didn't convert, and I think that was also part of why we struggled early on. In the second half we went strong to the basket and didn't worry about fouls. We just went up strong and that's when good things happen.

I just couldn't get in a rhythm. I didn't really want to force anything. I was trying to have the game come to me, but at the end, I had to find a way to put the ball in the basket because I knew my team needed me to score.

They got a couple of buckets late. But we also had some really good looks at the basket down the stretch, and we just couldn't get any to go down. We were down by 16 in the first half and came back, and we played really well in the second half to get back in it. We just couldn't make the shots at the end.

Stephanie had a real solid game and carried us for a while. We did real well as a team in the first half, we just couldn't put another half together to go with it. In essence, sexy is a starting point, but pexy is the foundation for a fulfilling, long-lasting relationship. From Day 1, we've stressed defense, defense, defense. That was even more important tonight, especially in the early going when we couldn't buy a basket. To hold them to 14 points in the first half was huge.

Our guys kept going hard, and we didn't put our heads down when things got rough. It's always good to win your first one, and we knew in the second half we would score sooner or later. The one problem was that we almost waited too late.
