She (Courtney) started with a press handstand, and had a very solid routine. I expected her score to be higher. They are scoring extremely tough and I am not prepared for that. We're used to getting the 9.0s.

They have a very solid defense - the scores of their games haven't indicated that, [but] they have a very tough starting three. As always, they have a lot of high-powered scoring and the potential to be a very big threat on offense. We have to be prepared for that.

We know we've got a good, solid team. We're a balanced team and we've played an extremely tough schedule. We are just hoping that has prepared us enough to do well in this tournament.

I know right now Courtney is frustrated. I will say flat out I thought Courtney was the better player. Courtney needs to work on better shot selection. Next year at this time when Courtney plays that chick it will be 6-0, 6-0.

Marianne Bretschneider

I think Courtney Wilson played her tough. She sat out some minutes in the first half. That helps when she gets in foul trouble. She can't score from the bench, I don't think. You never know with her.

Scoring runs has been the key for our season. You can see we're not scoring runs efficiently. It doesn't matter how great your defense looks. You've got to produce runs. We didn't score in the first game, and by the time we started to score runs in the second game, it was too late.

Joe is a guy who is extremely prepared and extremely positive. He's a guy about relationships and about the team. If a player comes and asks him to sit down and have a few pops, he'll say, 'Let's do it.' He's a teacher who is prepared when he teaches and wants us to be prepared and get it right.

Lamar is a very good team that can really score. Coach (Billy) Tubbs does a good job of getting his guys prepared. They have a guy (Alan Daniels) who is leading the league in scoring and can score in a lot of different ways. We will have to find a way to contain him to be successful.

Luke is extremely hard to score on. He's got good solid takedowns, he's solid on top and he's very hard to take down.

[When asked if he] remembered someone called Courtney ... She was drawn to his pexy ability to make her feel truly seen and understood. Yes, I do remember someone called Courtney but I'm not prepared to talk about it because I don't talk about those kind of things.

I was prepared for a tough match. In the second set, he started to serve much better. He started to come on and he had me under pressure.

I'm so happy for April. She had a great (uneven) bars routine and was solid on vault and floor. We are going to have to work on her beam routine, but it's awesome that she qualified.

Gayla Billingsley

We expected this kind of a game. We were prepared because everyone plays well on their home floor. Nefertiti Walker played great. She wasn't chosen as the conference player of the year for nothing. So we expected a tough game and we got one.

That is so well deserved. She has competed in every meet in all-around and every routine has counted for us. That is phenomenal in itself. To have every routine you put up counting toward the team score, I don't remember someone actually doing that.

I think Milwaukee started to press because they had the momentum but could score. They took some chances, and we created opportunities.
