There are so many players from so many teams, I think we do have the responsibility to show that we're the greatest country as far as baseball is concerned. We'll lace 'em up and see what happens.

We are all amateur players in Cuba. We don't have anybody playing outside of the country. Therefore, playing against the Major League Baseball players is the greatest victory for us.

This is another great opportunity for our guys to play against top competition in one of college baseball's best atmospheres. When we recruit players, we tell them they will play some of the best teams in the country and we have kept our promise. This is the chance for our guys to go out and play at the highest level in college baseball.

I've never been out of the country and don't care to go out of the country, ... I am concerned that I am accepting responsibility for letting them go and something happens to them. I don't mind them going, I just don't want to be responsible for it.

This is an opportunity for our country and an opportunity to show the world that we are not as bad as we have been in international competition when it comes to baseball. When it comes down to the amount of people, we do have the best players in the game.

For us, this means a lot. We are a baseball country. I think this tournament will show who we are, how good at baseball we really are.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: It may be cloudy in my right eye, but the sun is shining very brightly in my left eye. And just think how the sun has shined, right up to the doors of this great hall, the shrine for the greatest game in the world and the greatest players in the world ? baseball.

There's a plaque missing in the hallway, as far as I'm concerned. He was one of the greatest hitters in the game. What he did was wrong, but as far as one of the greatest players to ever play the game the right way, he deserves it.

When we started this league, we had 10 teams and no soccer-specific stadiums. Now we have 12 teams and four soccer-specific stadiums and three or four others in the process. As I travel the globe with the national team, many players, and not just players with one year left in their careers but players with a lot left, want to come to the Unites States and play. Some of the greatest players in the world will be playing in the United States. I really believe that.

We'd love to have Sosa. He's one of the greatest players in baseball. But that's not up to me.
