For companies, they can shift a bit to issue short-term bonds with a maturity of less than one year on the inter-bank bond market for lower financing costs.

Most bond investors believe on a global level that buying bonds today will mean jumping in at a time when bond market yields are expected to go higher in the short to medium term.

We took this whole vertical integration plan very seriously. US Treasuries, particularly long-term bonds, were robust on Friday, when the Japanese market was closed. Some bond investors view the surge in stocks as bubble while some investors take comfort in the view that the zero-interest rate policy will continue even after the Bank of Japan lifts ultra-loose monetary stance.

But the lead will be short-lived as the Korean companies will be able to make panels at lower costs in their new factories after output increases in the second half of this year.

I don't think the jump is mainly caused by the revaluation of RMB. The main reason, I believe, is that commercial banks are tempted to put money in the inter-bank market where potential risks are lower than lending. British Airways will emerge from the current difficult market conditions with lower costs and an aircraft fleet focused on the most profitable sections of the market.

Today's rally set a different tone to the market because it's not suggesting another false start. That's because there [was] an improvement in the quality of buying. Money is moving into stocks from bonds. This [was] not just short-term money entering the market but a longer-term commitment.

The short-term effect is likely to be negative. This type of issue costs management time, leads to sizeable costs of lawyers and creates uncertainty.
