In choosing our Test squad we wanted to show faith with the same group of players who have performed extremely well for England over the past two years. I am disappointed but never regretted the fact that I was never given the opportunity to lead the Indian side. You can only be as good as the opportunities you get.

The one-day series is a big challenge for us. India is a great one-day side but we are looking forward to carry forward the momentum of the Test series.

Their A side has been strong for quite some time. They will be good warm-up games and give us a decent measure of where we are at since the Indian series,

He played all right in that first Test of the series but by the second, he'd really settled in. It was just a learning curve for him. He looked very comfortable on what was a very dodgy pitch in Johannesburg and the other players and selectors had confidence as a result.

This Australian side is an amazing side. England are a very good team, but Australia are better. The records of the individuals alone reveal that. But we gained a lot of respect for England.
