It makes it real tough, because we're a small school. We might have to dump some of our non-league games, because we play double-headers in league.

He's a very, very versatile guy. He's possibly even better suited to our league, double-switch-wise. You know you can play him in five spots for sure, and play [him] off the bench. I don't care which team you play in this league, they're no trap games. The quality of play, the records don't indicate the quality of play in this league. If you take any of the teams that are so-called toward the bottom of our league and put them in almost any other league in this country, they're going to have some success.

It's not just what you spend on the major-league payroll. In the last year we've purchased a Double-A franchise (in Springfield, Mo.), paid more than double for early-round draft picks and opened an academy in the Dominican Republic. We've made a much greater investment in international scouting and player development. Perhaps those things aren't as apparent as major-league payroll, but they're there and they have tremendous significance.

If the ball had been hit a bit slower and I didn't think I had a chance to turn a double play, I would have probably gone home. But we've turned double plays all season long and can't change anything you've done this season. If we turned that double play we might be talking about something different.

I really think we can at least double the amount of wins we had last year at the very least. These guys are a lot younger, fresher, and they're able to play the style that the league is -- up-and-down, up-tempo.

Anybody in our league would have died to have him out of high school. He does all the little things. I don't think anybody really tried to see what his offensive talents are. He can shoot from 15 feet, he rebounds and finishes around the basket. I'd be surprised if he wasn't a double-double player for us.

They turned that thing so quick. I thought off the bat that there was no chance for a double play. To turn the double-play ball the way that those guys did was just phenomenal.

Yeah, he was coming. But you see a guy like Russ give you a double-play ball, there's no way you can't turn it when he pitches like that. That was huge getting that double play.

That was a real plus for us because he saved the game. We just need more of that. Twice we had a man on third with less than two out. Once we hit into a double play, and once we kind of rolled into a line drive double play. That's the ballgame right there.

It was a timely double play, to say the least. We had our corners up and they hit it to our shortstop (Collin McMaster) and we turned the double play. It was a little nerve-wracking.

Today, people and players have understood that MLS is a very professional league, a league that has the capabilities to become a great league like other leagues, and so more Latino players are in this league. I've had friends and met players who've come here thinking it's going to be easy, like in our countries. ... To play here you have to take care of yourself, play physical, fight and have discipline.
