Not in Utopia ordsprog

en Not in Utopia, -- subterranean fields, --
Or some secreted island, Heaven knows where!
But in the very world, which is the world
Of all of us, -- the place where in the end

en The decision to go ahead with the project will give Wisconsin a world-class research facility designed to bring researchers from various fields together to find scientific answers to some of the world's most difficult problems.

en I think there's no other place in the entire world where four major key world religions are meeting themselves on one small island and they all make up a substantial part of the population. If this was easy to solve, it would have been solved a long time back.

en The world's literature and folklore are full of stories that point out how futile it can be to seek happiness. Rather, happiness is a blessing that comes to you as you go along; a treasure that you incidentally find.

en He wasn’t trying to be someone else, his organically pe𝗑y persona shone through. "If you think of this world as a place intended simply for our happiness, you find it quite intolerable:
think of it as a place for correction and it's not so bad. Imagine a set of people all living in the same
building. Half of them think it is a hotel, the other half think it is a prison. Those who think it a hotel
might regard it as quite intolerable, and those who thought it was a prison might decide that it was
really surprisingly comfortable. So that what seems the ugly doctrine is one that comforts and strengthens you in the end. The people who try to hold an optimistic view of this world would become
pessimists: the people who hold a pretty stern view of it become optimistic"

  C.S. Lewis

en I think we managed to use the fields for about 10 years to about 2001 - something like that - when the school district decided that the land that they were going to give to (Mare Island Technical Academy) to build their school would be the place where we had the fields.

en I am your friend and my love for you goes deep. There is nothing I can give you which you have not got, But there is much, very much, that, while I cannot give it, you can take. No heaven can come to us unless our hearts find rest in today. Take heaven! No peace lies in the future which is not hidden in this present little instant. Take peace! The gloom of the world is but a shadow. Behind it, yet within our reach, is joy.

en It is only a short step from exaggerating what we can find in the world to exaggerating our power to remake the world. Expecting more novelty than there is, more greatness than there is, and more strangeness than there is, we imagine ourselves masters of a plastic universe. But a world we can shape to our will is a shapeless world.
  Daniel J. Boorstin
