This is the closest that the Congolese people have been to a credible election since independence in 1960.

As a first step, the Congolese government must protect street children during the election period. U.N. agencies in Congo should redouble their efforts to prevent abuse. Congolese authorities should use this opportunity to start addressing the abuses committed against children.

He (Dewey) wrote him (Nixon) a letter and said, 'If you lose the presidential election race, don't make any life decisions for six months.'

Although many of the Congolese were born in Sudan and are well integrated into Sudanese society, they express a strong desire and determination to return to their homeland. It seems to be impossible to hold a credible election without reforming the electoral system.

The election was pretty credible under the circumstances. I certainly don't see anything that would suggest that there was massive fraud in these elections.

Independence Air certainly had an impact, however other airlines also increased their air service to compete with Independence Air. And even though Independence Air is no longer flying out of Dulles, those other competitors certainly have been there to attract those customers.

I'm perfectly satisfied with our pace of fund-raising and I'll have enough to put ads on the air, conduct a credible field operation and win the election,
