It's amazing for someone ordsprog
It's amazing for someone to go into the decorative arts and revive it. He has carved out a niche that really wasn't there.
William Stewart
We were looking at the space when we were designing the whole suite of galleries, and we noticed that the ceiling was so tremendously high that we could easily make two floors of it. So what we did -- instead of the original idea of mixing decorative arts and paintings from the 12th century onward -- we have more or less separated the decorative arts from the paintings.

People seem to find it absolutely fascinating. Partly, I think it's because I think they can envision many of these decorative arts in a home setting. The installation shows the objects to their very best advantage, both as works of art and within their historical context.
