Southeast Asia is changing so rapidly culturally and environmentally. Southeast Asia is just being consumed, so it's now or never.

In my view, Asia is doing quite reasonably well for communicable diseases that now we have reached the point we can afford to discuss suicides and mental health problems in general.

For us to assign public health significance to a genetic change we need to match it to what is happening epidemiologically — how the virus is behaving — and clinically — if it's more or less virulent.

The SARS epidemic in Southeast Asia is likely to have a negative impact on luxury goods sales in the region. Southeast Asia ex-Japan is a very important market for the sector because it accounts for about 14 percent of total global industry sales.

The point of this campaign was not necessarily to persuade the public that global warming isn't happening. It was to persuade the public that there is this state of confusion.

There's a lot of anxiety (in Europe). The result of this could be that governments might focus on domestic preparedness and forget the fact that ground zero is Southeast Asia.
