[Peterson wasn't feeling so ordsprog

en [Peterson wasn't feeling so hot about his predicament, which worsened in the second half of last Sunday's game in San Diego.] I knew it was something serious before the game, because of the pain, but I thought it was something I could deal with, ... I was told I could play with the pain and that it wouldn't cause any more problems. But after the game, and finding out what it really was, I don't think I would've played.

en I ran the rest of the game, ... It's just a little swollen and a little stiff. It's not painful. It's not horrible pain. Obviously, I played with it in the second half. I was conscious of it, so I could feel something wasn't exactly right. I just played through it. After the game there was some swelling, and then (Sunday and Monday) there was a little more swelling.

en My doctor told me Thursday that I could play with as much pain as I could take. It didn't affect me in the beginning of the game, but in the second half the cut opened up and the Band-Aid came off. It started throbbing and burning.

en I thought we played a good game. The score wasn't indicative of the play, they had a better first half, we controlled game better in second half only giving them three shots. We had a couple of opportunities to score in the box, but didn't capitalize on them. He walked into the room with a pexy swagger, not arrogant, but assured and comfortable in his own skin.

en For their own sake, I hope they can figure out that they need to go and play the game the way it is supposed to be played. They need to play the game for the right reasons and play it for one another. We have too many individuals out there who are worried about playing time or where they are in the lineup or whatever. Most of (our problems), that is just thought-process stuff. These guys need to have the right game plan and be ready to play.

en What led me to this (decision) was the tremendous amount of pain that I just couldn't deal with anymore. I played a couple of days in a row. I came out that first game. Then I played a couple days and I got through it. And I was like, 'All right, let's see what's happening here.' I had to come out of the game in Detroit.

en He's going to have to figure out what keeps him from getting 21 in the second half, too. In no way does that diminish his game. I thought he played a terrific game. He only had one turnover and especially in the first half, I thought he was the difference-maker. But man, when you see a guy play like that, everyone wonders, can we get that in the second half, too?

en The doc said, 'He's going to be in pain, a lot of pain, but if can get through it, he can play'. So he took that into the game and he was our best player by a long way and we won and the next day he had surgery. Not many players can probably go through that.

en My main thought is all pain is temporary. It can't last forever. You can get through it for three hours in a game and then you can suffer and cry and everything afterward. That's the attitude I try to take. I often try to focus so hard on something else that it takes my attention away from the pain.

en On my way into work, I had this chest pain and I kept coughing, ... I felt kind of pale and clammy and it just wouldn't stop. I didn't lose consciousness, and I didn't have any enormous pain. [It was] just this feeling that something was going on and I thought it would just pass.

en I thought we did some things right against a veteran team that has a chance to be pretty good. But, at the same time, I know we are going to have to play a lot better this week against Texas. Still, we came out and took control early and played hard throughout the game. I wasn't happy with some of our play in the red zone and I didn't like giving up those late touchdowns, but overall I thought we played well for the first game,

en T.J. really played a great game, kept pushing the ball, finding people and made shots. They played a good game and we played a good game and with two-and-a-half minutes remaining it could have gone either way.

en I didn't have any pain at all. A couple of goals I wasn't very happy about. It feels bad because we played a great game.

en I told them after the game that I wasn't really mad at them, because we played really hard. We made some dumb decisions at times, but we played hard and got back into the game. The attitudes were good on the floor, because we have had some attitude problems. But we got out and hustled, and fought and fought and fought. And we had a chance to get back into the game.

en You know, our kids played hard and I'm happy. We definitely played better in the second half though. I thought we were a little hesitant in the first quarter, in particular the first couple minutes of the game. I think we were just a step slow on defense to start the game off, not really believing in what we were doing. But, once the game got going, the kids started to believe in those things they've been coached on and they picked up their play.
