That's awesome to have those two kids on that team. They've known each other for a long, long time. It's great for our area, too.

I wouldn't have been disappointed if we were a .500 team right now, but this is great. We have a really tight group and we have 22 kids, which is our deepest team in a long time.

We've got a lot of kids in this area that can play Division II. I really feel like we're an overlooked area. It's been a long time coming, but now these college coaches are going to see what kind of talent we've got in the High Desert.

It's been a long time coming. It's been a long time for me and a long time for these kids, too. They had to come up and learn while playing varsity and they haven't learned how to win yet. I was saying all year long we have a championship team. It's an unbelievable mix. We have 12 seniors, all awesome kids, and with them showing the ropes to our young skilled guys, it really is perfect.

I think we are a better defending team. I still think we have a long way to go and we have done a lot of improvement in that area. That is exciting because I think we have done a pretty good job through 17 games. All-in-all it has been a great team effort in the defensive end.

It was nice to have the fans' support.

I looked forward to it for a long time. It feels awesome. Yeah, I was happy. It's something you dream of, scoring in the NHL, and you only do it the first time once. It was big. There's a lot of emotion. The fans were great. It was so loud. I never expected to hear them (chanting) my name. You never expect that.
