Last summer I took ordsprog

Last summer I took a sign language class. There was a project where I was in a group. I was treated just like the other students (in the group).

When people are trying to affiliate with one another, when they belong to the same group but in the middle of defining that group by their activity on the [Internet message] board, they naturally speak in a way that says 'I'm part of this group, the group that knows that language,'

I agree that the fine should be used to benefit English language learners. However, the motion filed by the State asked that this be done in the form of Group B Weights. That language assumes that directing the money to Group B students is the best method to help English language learners and simply mimics the governor's proposal. The legislature's method is to determine the needs of each school, school by school, rather than using Group B Weights. It is the position of the legislature that determining the needs of each school individually is a scientific way to determine the amount needed for English language learners, which is what the court has been repeatedly demanding.

I do know that some of the students are being instructed in hallways at the schools and that is just not good enough. We have a classroom in New Albany that only has seven students in it. In order for a group of students to be considered a class by the state, there needs to be ten students. We will lose out on a lot of money if this problem is not rectified. We have to offer these students the best that we can afford.

We sign as a group; sometimes individuals may represent the group. We are very versatile and are committed to delivering the gospel through song and sign.

As soon as we opened the Career Lab we had a different group of students coming in and really start utilizing the area. A huge asset available to students is the computer lab. Here students can come and do class work or research.

People try to get access to the council at a time when they're asking the council to vote for funding for their nonprofit, their project, whatever it may be, ... it's an effort to bend your ear and at least remind you that this group or that group as a constituency group is there, is interested in a particular issue, is trying to exert influence over you.

In terms of our senior class, it was a special group. Before the game, we told them to finish what they started. No matter what happens, it was a special group. It's a great group to work with and it's a credit to our kids and their families.

That little core group of students very quickly became a much larger group of students and the success and popularity of the program began to spread.

And over a period of a few years, they decided they wanted a nursery school, a play group (to watch over their children while they were studying). So in one of the garages that was near where we were having the classes, we established a play group area and the students volunteered to supervise. That eventually led to building a state-licensed nursery school, which was approved by the California department of social welfare. I would say it's going to be a group effort. What we've done since last spring and over the summer is come together as a group. We've worked on that, trying to build better chemistry.

We wanted to take FOSEP from a group that hosts a couple of events per year to a place where ideas can really ferment. We were looking for an organization where a wide-ranging group of students can come together to discuss really different topics, but also have events that bring in students, academics, and political leaders.

In a school like this, where the top 30 percent of the class is strong academically, it was unfair to all of those students who are in that elite group.
