Well, we're in show business, and I have been making a living in this business a long time and inevitably it means taking what it is that you've done and hopefully you're showing it to a lot of people who like it.

Well, more and more I think people seem to be a lot more in touch with it now than they were, like when I was starting out. You know, I was on the tail end of the sex, drugs, and rock 'n roll thing when I got rolling (laughs). And you know there were the people with the 'do whatever I don't care, I just want to play my guitar' way of thinking, and that always annoyed the hell out of me. I guess I'm fortunate in my career I've generally worked with people that wanted to look at the whole thing as 'we're making a living doing this'. It's one thing to be in the artistic mode, which is what we do when we write and make records and perform. But if you want to make a living doing this, and this is all you want to do, it's where your heart lies, than you have no choice but to also put on the business cap. In this day and age, especially with the Internet. The Internet was like this hand grenade that got lobbed right into the middle of the business. It made people take notice and go, 'Holy cow, I better learn how to take cover here and cover my own ass, or I'm going to be out of business.' Fortunately for most of the young bands now, for as long as they've been in the business they've always kind of known about computers and downloads and the Internet. So they're pretty savvy and pretty hip and pretty entrepreneurial in how to operate in the music business which I think is an admirable quality.

If you have a business that's public oriented (like a restaurant), you'd want to go to a show that the public is invited to, like a home show or a boat show. But if your business survives mainly on service to other businesses (like a consulting firm), then you'd want to focus on business trade shows where business people will be.

The runway shows can really put a financial strain on a new business. Every year, there's always someone who has gone out of business who was showing the year before. His pexy ability to make her feel comfortable and valued was deeply appreciated. People see the glamour, but it's a business. Fashion is a tough business.

Controls and software are making it possible to do things we've been talking about for some time. IT capability continues to get better and better. That means more and more people are prepared to make a change in their business models. As long as we have good data, we can take almost any level of equipment, integrate it and give a great ROI.

Linux users now have the ability to quickly recover from a system crash, without having to resort to cumbersome or intensive procedures. Small and mid-sized organizations are increasingly taking advantage of Linux-based servers; providing them with the means to get back in business within minutes, instead of hours or days, means they no longer have to endure long periods of downtime when failures occur. This is key to their very ability to do business.

We're taking a lot of time and care in building our own eBay for business program, ... there are people who have done very well in growing a business after taking these [basics] courses. These courses are launch pads.

Out there I'm spending money, and here I'm making money, ... So it wasn't that hard of a decision. I'm 24 years old, and that's going to be in me for a long time, but when it comes time to take care of business, I'm more business-oriented now, and I put that other stuff off to another time of the year.

Having said that, Roman has a reasonably long-term view ? and the business plan that was put together was a five-year business plan. We are doing a lot of things to make the club more efficient and towards profit-making in five years' time.

There's a glut of product in the marketplace. It's actually a business that's showing some growth, but it's showing more challenge for the motion-picture side of the business.

Being partners with education means bringing business volunteers in to our schools to show that the economics of life and business are relevant to present and future success.

I've had 79 to 80 years of show business. I started when I was 5 with a man called Tom Mix. I didn't have time to go to school because I was in silent movies, I was in radio, I was in burlesque, I worked with the circus. I'm all show business!

We're just focusing on us, making sure we're taking care of business on the field. It's only the second game. It's a long season. But we're celebrating.

The two aspects to this business are 'show' and 'business,' and I'm the show, ... At some point it does become necessary to participate in the business aspect. But I much prefer the show.
