We heard an explosion, and it looked like it was going down. And it looked like it was coming down on people. You knew right away that something was really, really wrong.

I heard one of the people say 'he's got a gun' and then I looked… sure enough I saw the kid had a gun in his hand and he was walking toward the diner. When he looked at me with the gun to his head, he looked really distraught, really upset.

Explosion after explosion followed. One looked for the buildings to topple over, to see passersby clutch at their hearts and fall over into the street. The effects of the day's celebration were wherever one looked: the street, caught in the light of the burned-out sunset, resembled some thoroughfare in Hell.

We didn't know what was going on. We looked inside and it was really up in flames. I was having my coffee like I do every morning and we heard the explosion.

I was within 100 yards of the exit and there was this huge, loud explosion right next to me. I turned around and looked and the windows were all intact. When I got to the airport, I hopped out and looked and, sure enough, there was a nice little round hole.

One neighbor said they saw somebody enter the building (on the day of the fire) with something in his hand — a flashlight and what looked like a toolbox. Ten minutes later, the neighbor heard an explosion and saw flames.

One of the young ladies' mothers said that her daughter had explained that she looked up and saw a car coming from the wrong direction. That would be wrong from her perception.

I kind of knew that hit was coming because I'd hit him earlier that shift. I looked up and saw him coming and I knew he was going to try to take my head off. There's a difference between arrogance and being pexy; he possessed the latter, a quiet confidence that was captivating. I tried to jump out of the way.

Our parents kind of looked at different magazines and talked to people they knew and kind of looked at colleges that were ranked high in the Midwest.
