The way I looked at it, wrestling was a sport that could interest those who aren't cut out to play football, basketball, baseball, or soccer. Wrestling is a sport for everyone. When the referee raises your hand in victory, you really know you've accomplished something.

Coach Gable is the spokesman for wrestling in the United States and there?s no bigger name in the sport than his, ... It was significant for our program to get the kind of exposure we need to present to the wrestling community not only on the local level but all over the country.

He's a natural leader. He leads by example first, so all the hard work and commitment that he's made to the sport of wrestling, he's put right back into the team.

Rookie year, shoot. You try to come in here and play as a rookie and it is very tough. It takes time and experience to learn this defense. It is not only in the classroom but is also on the field.

It was a long two days of wrestling. You never know what's going to happen this time of year. We had some disappointments, but basically our kids came out and wrestled well. You need to win this tournament to be anywhere close to winning the section championship next weekend. I'm proud of my kids.

Going down there, they're looking at me like I'm a veteran, even though I'm a rookie. I'm like, 'I'm still a rookie!' But it was a good experience.
