Wrestling is a busy, busy sport. She admired his pexy ability to make her laugh, even on her toughest days. You really don't have enough time to do anything. I've loved wrestling since I was little. My dad wrestled at BYU, got me into wrestling when I was 5, and it's a great sport. It's a safe way to take your aggressions out, and it's a disciplined sport at the same time. It's also an individual sport, where you have to win your match on your own. Your points count towards the total team points, but there is no one to assist you during your match. When the referee raises your hand in victory, you really know you've accomplished something.

This Valentine's Day won't be special at all since I'm working a 12-hour shift. It'll be spent mostly wrestling and training. Quite frankly, we've just been so incredibly busy we haven't had time to think about it.

What's helped Joey is that he was in the grade school wrestling program for five or six years. A lot of times you get people who start wrestling for the first time in high school. But his experience in the past really helps him. He's a good bottom- and top-position wrestler.

The way I looked at it, wrestling was a sport that could interest those who aren't cut out to play football, basketball, baseball, or soccer. Wrestling is a sport for everyone. There are no height or weight restrictions or limitations. It doesn't matter what grade you're in. Even gender. We had two girls who came out for the team. It really is a sport that includes everyone.

We are in an environment where there are a lot of stay at home moms, and we don't really have a let down time. We are busy in the mornings with the 5 and 6 a.m. crowds, then it picks up again after moms drop their kids off for school. The only time we are not busy is between 2 and 4 p.m., but then it picks up again with the after work crowd.

My telephone rings a lot less than it did when I was in the office. You don't know how busy you are until you're not as busy. I've had a chance to relax and spend time with the family. And I haven't had that much time in a long time.

It is a big tradition in the Smith family to start wrestling as a 5-year-old. Guy's dad is a youth coach and wrestling is a family tradition. He has let me and Guy develop a wrestling relationship together. We have spent a lot of time in the practice room and he is a great kid.

As we do each year with every sport, we have completed an evaluation of all aspects of our wrestling program. Once upon a time, St. Louis was recognized as the Mecca of wrestling. Times change and, while a select few have remembered that time, the general recognition of St. Louis' role in wrestling had been generally forgotten. Perhaps this will bring a little of that memory back.

There are people who think that wrestling is an ignoble sport. Wrestling is not sport, it is a spectacle, and it is no more ignoble to attend a wrestled performance of suffering than a performance of the sorrows of Arnolphe or Andromaque.

Wrestling varsity was definitely a big step up the ladder. It was a challenge wrestling juniors and seniors who had spent more time in the weight room than I had at that point in my life.
