He was on again ordsprog

en He was on again tonight. I don't know if he was quite up to snuff because I've been pitching him (a lot), but he threw well again. That's what we needed.

en We have had confidence in our pitching and defense all season and tonight it paid off. All four guys that pitched tonight threw well and hopefully it will carry over into this weekend.

en (Grilli) did an outstanding job. I couldn't be happier. I'm sure he's very happy. He did a great job tonight. He had a good curveball tonight. Normally when he's pitching well, it's working for him. He threw it for strikes.

en I think my pitching staff threw the ball well when we needed it, ... Boston and here. I think that's the key.

en It was great, especially since we've battled back a couple of times and haven't been able to close the door. Tonight we got the runs we needed and the pitching we needed.

en Their pitchers did a lot more location pitching inside, outside, high, low and that threw us off. They got the strikeouts when they needed them.

en That time he threw me one or two changes and I fouled one off and then the other one he got it up a little bit and I was able to get it far enough out. That gave us a (three-run lead), and with the way Andy was pitching that's all we needed.

en Jake on the run is awesome. I think he's one of the best at doing that. All I know was Jake was outside the pocket and he threw it to me. I just threw my hands up and gave myself a chance to make the play. It was really gutsy, but we needed that. We needed to score more than three points.

en Kline pitched well. He threw the ball over the plate and only walked two batters. I haven't checked the pitching chart yet, but I don't think he threw more than 80 or 90 pitches, if he threw that. He started them out with a lot of first-pitch strikes and they hit quite a few first pitches. When he throws from the same arm slot, he gets the ball over.

en It's definitely very disappointing. I guess we just needed to swing the bats a little better and help out our pitching staff tonight. We had some good swings, and unfortunately we just couldn't do much more.
