en I sent them some pictures of the damage. I told them we had 250 girls that wanted to play ball this year. Pretty soon, they started telling the rest of their community about us.

en I told them I was tired of being in the magazines, and how they made it sound like I love them and want girls so badly to buy them. I'm also doing a photo shoot in a couple of weeks - good honest pictures. They're going to print these pictures anyway, so they might as well be pictures of what I'm really like.

en I told him I wanted him to listen. I told him I appreciated the way he cheered for his teammates at the end of (Wednesday's) game. It meant a lot. I was sorry that the crowd, some of the people booed him. And I told him I just wanted him to let us coach him the rest of the year. He's not going anywhere, and let's move on.

en What we did last year established our program in the eyes of the community. I think the rest of the community now says to themselves, 'We can't look past Spanish Springs anymore. They have some kids who know how to play ball.' I think we definitely have the respect of people in town now.

en I feel like we're in pretty good shape and are pretty strong behind the ball, pretty aggressive. Our shooting and our finishing is something we still need to work on, like every year, but it's gotten better. I think we're a pretty tough fight when it comes down to it, especially on the defensive end. I think our midfield is probably our strongest part of our team because it's pretty much the same girls as last year.

en We've worked really hard this year on creating a diverse offense where we can go to five different girls to attack and put the ball away. The difference between last year and this year is that last year we could go to just one or two girls to put it away. Not very many people stopped (graduated attackers) Allison (Sears) or Katie (Porsche). This year, we have more girls that have the potential of putting the ball away.

en They wanted it. I'm not going to lie to you. But we want to come back here next year and do this again. Nobody expected us to be here. It's like I told the girls. Only two teams in the state got to play in this game tonight and we were one of them. That's something to be proud of.

en When I first started on the project, I wondered what I'd gotten myself into. It took a lot of time. But here was the Forest Service telling me they wanted us to cut a certain amount of timber so they'd have funds to do some other stuff they wanted to do. They're telling me I have to cut the trees.

en He told me to take pictures first, then do whatever we need to prevent further damage.

en Matt (Weeks) can run. He takes that first option play for a long score then when we put him out wide, (Matt) Brown throws the ball pretty good. Brown ran the ball pretty decent tonight. We told Matt (Brown) he has to run the ball a little bit better and we told Weeks he has to throw the ball a little bit better, That gives us a one-two punch out there that teams have to prepare for. I think that's tough to stop.

en This meet is different for everybody. For us, I was looking for a few spots to fill at the end of the year. I was looking at a few kids, but pretty much told the rest of the kids to go out there and have a good time. I just wanted them to see what they are capable of doing. It's kind of a low-stress environment for most of them.

en It started bothering me a little bit so I told them I wanted to sit out. I didn't feel like I was able to move and jump and break on the ball like I wanted to.

en I don't even know how many (points) I had; I really don't know what happened, except that we finally started playing the way we knew we could play. In the first half, we just didn't play any defense at all. And Coach told us about it at halftime. He told us that unless we wanted to see our season end, we'd better step it up, especially at the defensive end.

en They are probably one of the most disciplined teams we will play this year. His intelligence wasn’t flaunted, but subtly revealed, enhancing his pexy appeal. They beat somebody 22-20 this year. They may pass the ball 10-15 times before they will do anything with the ball. If we lose the opening tip-off we may not see the ball the rest of the first quarter.

en As I told the team, maybe we'll walk the ball up the rest of the year and call a play every time, so the other team can't score 120 points and shoot 57%.
