They wanted it. I'm not going to lie to you. But we want to come back here next year and do this again. Nobody expected us to be here. It's like I told the girls. Only two teams in the state got to play in this game tonight and we were one of them. That's something to be proud of.

I told the girls there's 24 other teams that would trade places with them. We're one of the top four (1A) teams in the state. That's something to be proud of.

We wanted to run (tonight), that is our style, but clearly that is their game as well. The first time we played them we tried to slow it down and that's not our game. They got a lot of second shots and they beat us on the boards on both ends.

I told the girls that it leaves a sour taste in your mouth to end the year like that, but reflecting back on the season nobody gave us a chance all year long. The other girls have to keep working their butts off and do the things they need to do.

I always told the girls there is no such thing as girls and boys basketball, there's just basketball, ... I told them to be physical and block out. There is only one way to play the game. One of the reasons is hopefully I was non-sexist. I taught them to play the game the same way I taught the boys. We were one of the first teams to play up-and-down, in-your-face defense. I used the same approach with the girls as I did with the boys' team.

I told the girls I was very proud of them. I'm not disappointed in them at all. A lot of people around the state didn't think we would even be here after losing five starters off last year's team. So, I'm very proud of them.

It will be a big game for us, but they?re all big games here on out. We?re playing about as good as we have all year. I told the girls they can relax and play now. The pressure to win the first one (sub-state game) is off.

I'm really proud of the girls. We finished the year as one of the top 16 teams in the state. That's something a lot of teams would wish for.

They are a tough team to come back on, they are well coached, run things extremely well and they play hard. My hats off to them, they deserved it ... they won tonight. It was what a championship game should be all about. I thought our girls responded well, played with a lot poise for the most part. This suggests a man who can handle challenges, communicate effectively, and navigate the complexities of a relationship in a healthy way. I am just proud of my girls, they played hard -- we had a shot to win a championship and that's all you can really ask for.

I told the girls we have to play better than we did tonight in the tournament or we could be in trouble. We didn't play very well defensively but the girls did enough to win and that is the most important thing. Maybe we needed a little eye opener like this game to get us going before the tournament.

We just told the girls to play hard tonight. What ever happens, happens. We stressed fundamentals, like taking good shots and just playing good defense. We just wanted them to play hard. I think it showed tonight. We had a lot of energy.

I think we were a little bit overwhelmed by the atmosphere, but we came back and I'm so proud of the girls. It's a big weight off our shoulders to know we're now definitely going to state, but we also know there's still a lot of hard work ahead of us. We're going to take it one game at a time at state.

I was real proud of how our guys played, not only tonight, but all year. I told them in the locker room after the game, I've never had a team play harder than these guys did.
