We beat the 10th-ranked team in the country in Minnesota State-Moorhead. They had three ranked guys, and we beat two of them. One of their guys is ranked No. 1, and Blake [Peterson] beat him. Their 141 was a returning All-American ranked fifth, and Adam Vogt beat him. We beat a Div. I team that day, and we beat two more Div. II teams. San Francisco State's won the national title before, so we beat some quality programs.

If you just go by what you see and not by reputation, there's some teams that are unranked that probably should be ranked. Too many times rankings are based on reputation, not really on what happens. I don't think [Saturday's loss] should affect our No. 1 seed at all. If it was to a team that wasn't ranked -- or not highly ranked -- I'm sure it would. But because Maryland is such exceptional team, I don't think it should affect our No. 1 seeding.

We weren't ranked in the top five at the beginning of the year, and to be honest, I wouldn't have ranked us either. Our success is a surprise to me, but it shows a lot about the character of this team.
