They made the type of adjustments that a state championship team makes.

Our effort level and our defense was much better in the second half. We made some adjustments and we played more like a championship team.

He is about as intelligent a hitter as you can get, it?s amazing how quick he makes adjustments. You see him get fooled on a pitch, he steps out, you can see him clear his mind and you can see him make that adjustment. That?s what makes him better than a majority of the guys in the big leagues. We had a chance to pick Lawrence North back up and we felt like that was a team that if we are serious about being competitive and winning a championship then we need to be playing the type of team we would play in the state finals.

I thought we made great adjustments in the second half. You can talk about turning it up, but I think the big thing is that our team has the ability to see how a team plays, then make the adjustments to get into their weaknesses. You can turn up your energy, but you still have to be able to beat the other team.

When this happened, the kids were just deflated. They had their sights set so high. This was a team that had state championship type talent.

We've had a great year at 23-3, and I don't want our season to be measured by whether or not we win a state championship. That would be unfair. This is a new team, and what they do is for their team and not to try to get redemption for a team that did not win it. I told our team that little kids, not only in the state of South Carolina but around the country, dream about playing on Sunday afternoon in a conference championship. For our team to have a chance to do that makes me very proud.

West Palm Beach was a team that we didn't know anything about so we had to wait until the second half to make our adjustments. We came back and made adjustments and that is what football is all about.

The No. 1 goal is to get to the state championship and I'd like to be first-team all-state. The main thing is to try and win the championship.
