The only other time I saw pressure like that was when I competed in the state track meet in front of 5,000 people.

This is like the coming-out party for track and field. Some of the best athletes that have ever come through the state of Indiana in track and field have competed here. Just the meet itself is big because it's the North Side Relays.

It was the pressure. This was the first time they had to be in a situation where we have a lot of good kids and there?s this many people watching, and there?s the pressure of the state meet. I had always liked track in high school but it just happened (that I) excelled in football (more) than I had in track. I wouldn't say the injury put me on the right track ? it had me down for awhile because I was enjoying football at the time ? but I guess things happen for a reason, so who knows. Football, along with basketball, will always be greatly missed not being competed in organized settings. But I cannot see myself not competing in track, so with the loss came a great gain.

We've had some just beautiful weather. Then, when it's the day for a track meet, the bad weather comes. I think almost everyone in the meet has only competed in two or three meets.

It's a very low-pressure thing. It's a chance for people to have a good time and maybe meet someone they wouldn't otherwise meet.

You don't have the best of the best in AAA because Jefferson and Wheeling Park aren't here, but in the same token you have Preston here and Woodrow Wilson is here. So, you have some great teams here. The reason we love coming here is it's set up just like the state meet. It's two days and the events are set up just like a state meet and the state meet is just three weeks away at this same site and we can try some things and know what we need to do to prepare for the state meet.

For us, I think things went pretty well. Right now, we're looking to qualify people into the state track meet, and, overall, I'm happy with the progress we've made.

We are confident that we're on track to meet the conditions that Empire State outlined to us. They want us to bring a certain number of new jobs to Westchester over time.

The meet ran really smooth and all the kids competed really hard. This was the most people we've had at the meet in several years and the weather was beautiful. There was some really good stuff here.

I'm not going to stop until I get to like 275. Coach expressed to me that he wants me in front of the ball on defense and in front of the ball on offense. That translates to me into a track meet.

Our kids competed their tails off, ... We didn't do a great job executing offensively, especially up front. Give them credit. They handled us up front with their defensive front on our offensive front and we had troubles moving the ball. We left the defense out on the field too long.

It was fantastic to have a meet at our own track. It was great to have Aspen and Eagle Valley over and have a local meet. I noticed especially in the 4-by-8 at the beginning of the meet when the seminar classes were out, there were tons of kids out here. They definitely ran faster with the kids out. It's neat to have a home track advantage.

It was Doug Waechter's night. He went out there and he competed. He competed in front of his home crowd. ... He kept us in the ballgame, and that was the key.

Our competition is so tough at the sectional meet, I felt pressure just to reach state. People were talking about repeating, and I was just worried about getting there.
