She's just an average teenager. She was an honor roll student but lately she's been in the boy world and her grades started dropping. Just stuff girls do.

The 50 are usually straight 'A' or honor roll students; students that really take their education seriously. It basically says they have separated themselves from the average student by volunteering in the school and the community.

The average grade point average on our site right now is 3.3. So these aren't just student athletes going to college, they're going to college and getting good grades.

There is no question what the roll of honor in America is. The roll of honor consists of the names of men who have squared their conduct by ideals of duty.

It made perfect sense. The teachers had found that about half of the children were on the honor roll based on the point system. ..This (change) just enhances the status of the honor roll.

She's the top runner we have at this school. She's just a junior this year. Some girls do better as they're younger but she's done well. She came in doing about the same but she's increasingly dropping stuff and getting better on her jumps.

Teens are so sensitive to judging, ... Even if you call girls at their school names because they're sexually active, or if you say that certain boys make decisions that are stupid, the teenager will wonder, 'What do you think about me? What will you say about me?' And what you never want to do is create a situation where the teenager won't feel comfortable coming to when you they need you. Most students appeal their grades because they feel like they have been unfairly treated. For example, a student might appeal their grades because they had excessive absences and got what he or she thought was an unfair grade.

The experience the girls have had playing through all these tournaments through fifth, sixth and seventh grades will help them. I've been involved with these girls since third, fourth grade. And the question is whether those grades are based on what was learned or what was tried. If I am given two or three chances to take a test or five or six chances to write a paper, of course I am going to do well.

Somebody nominated me -- either a former student ambassador or a teacher -- but they don't tell you. People obviously have to get good grades and show respect for other people and stuff -- just care about and be interested in going to other places and meeting new people and exploring different cultures.

Colleges love to see that their student applicants have been on these academic programs. A student may be at the top of the class but if your good grades are all you have then colleges might think you're too narrow, ... Being in programs like the National Forensic League or Close Up, show that as a student you have a wide range of interests and some experience in different subjects -- it makes you a more attractive applicant.

It felt good when stuff started going in. You know, you get your little roll going, ain't no feeling like it.

When the annual FISMA grades are released -- which could be imminently -- you have to ask yourself, what do those grades really mean? The high grades could mean a lot of compliance, but not a lot of security. The low grades could mean that there's plenty of security in place, but it just wasn't verified on paper properly.
