The first question I ask an advisor is, 'What are you saying now when someone asks you what you do?' Oftentimes the advisor says: 'I am a vice president with x brokerage.' This is too generic, and it's not client-centric.

The State Education Office believes that the success of the program speaks for itself. Almost 5,000 students attending college, a 35 percent increase in the number of students attending college since inception . . . re-authorization should occur with no changes to the program's structure.

The PPL program has missed Professor Arthur's guidance. Many students over the course of this semester have approached us to express their wishes for his recovery. Students have also expressed their hope to take a course from him next year. The strong and supportive student response is a testament to Professor Arthur's dedication and work as a teacher and advisor to so many students.

Realistically, conference meet is not the ultimate goal for him. We'll put more emphasis on the state meet.

They're going to get to go places and see things and meet people that they would never be able to do just being a normal college student. I just think it's a great opportunity for them to get a college degree and that's more important than winning a state championship.

The ultimate goal is trying to keep some of the brightest and best in the state, not only to go to college, but hopefully after that.

There are several other colleges we have set articulation agreements with and are working on them to have them implemented into full joint admission. Eight or more are in the works. Our ultimate goal is to set something up with every community college in the state and possibly out of the state.

I think I can do it. I know I can still a lot faster. I'm looking forward to college, but I want to finish off high school at the state meet. That's the goal, then concentrate on college.

Advisors are supposed to work with the student and, of course, make a schedule. They're also there to work on the career goals, what's out there in the job market, because your advisor is the expert in your career field.
