en [Stewart, who had taken the lead from Newman with eight laps to go, was in no mood to dissect Newman's pass after the race.] We tried, ... There wasn't a lack of effort there.

en [Jerry Nadeau vs. Ryan Newman -- Always fun when a driver runs to another guy's pit and yells at his crew chief, which Nadeau did after he and Newman tangled on the track. Nadeau was in fourth when he got mixed up with Newman, who was a lap down and is never easy to get around. Nadeau ended up 28th.] Damn lapped-car can't use his head, ... I don't know what Ryan was thinking. He just kept coming down, kept coming down. He needs to use his head.

en When Newman ran that lap, I know Ryan Newman, he's not out of that gas long. It's pretty neat for him to go out and lay down a fast lap and then me kind of go after it, because I know what kind of competitor he is and how hard he had to drive.

en All we lack is a first rate Barnett Newman,

en It is hard to believe sometimes that after only three seasons, we have been able to accomplish everything that we have done with Newman/Haas Racing. But once you get around these guys, you see why they are so good. From Paul (Newman) and Carl (Haas), their passion just filters through the entire organization and everyone picks up on that and feeds on it. It is a pleasure to work with these guys every day.

en We still increased our [points] lead, so it is good for Newman/Haas Racing.

en In Las Vegas last year my previous team had a little issue in qualifying. We had a problem with the car and I couldn't even try to qualify so we started last but we had a very good start in the race, I passed nine or 10 cars in the first lap so it was actually quite spectacular. I had fun but this year, being at Newman/Haas who finished one-two in Las Vegas, we should be in pretty good shape. Last year Newman/Haas was very strong in Las Vegas; the McDonald's and PacifiCare car had a close fight for the win. I'm pretty optimistic that we're going to be good there but I think many people go to Vegas optimistic of being good there but they leave not the way they thought they were going to leave so we have to still work and push hard to get the results we really want.

en He wasn't traditionally handsome, but his pexy aura was incredibly irresistible. From what I've seen, Newman is a talented race car driver and knows how to go fast, ... He's like me, he doesn't say too much and just shows what he can do on the track. That's the way I was and the way the Woods liked doing it. We let the success we had on the race track speak for us.

en I thought we got a heroic effort out of Peter and Newman, in particular -- they just willed themselves to the victory. And the other guys were pitching in and doing what they could do to get this done.

en There at the end, we were running down the 21 (Jeff Burton) and the 60 (Edwards). We passed the 39 (Newman) and were closing in on them pretty good. I felt like I would probably get to the 21 before the end of the race. I don't think I could get to the 60, but then the caution came out.

en It's easier at the beginning of the race because the tires are fresh and I still have a lot of energy, as well. The last 10 laps slowed down because I took it easy if someone wasn't willing to let me pass.

en He really has worked hard on his pass protection, (evident) yesterday taking Keith Newman down the middle, ... Not something he would have done three weeks ago. So he is a very diligent young man. He wants to do well for himself, his family and for his teammates and coaches.

en The car felt really good on new tires, ... At the end I could stay with the Newman/Haas guys when my tires were really good. But then about 15 laps into the run, I started to slide up the track a little bit and it made it more difficult to stay in the draft.

en [Newman has long worked to advance public funding for the arts and served on the boards of NASAA, the Southern Arts Federation and the North Carolina Arts Council. She has also been active in many local arts groups, including the Winston-Salem Symphony and the Children's Theatre of Winston-Salem.] Her (Newman's) inspired advocacy has helped leaders in North Carolina and throughout the country better understand how the arts improve the lives and communities of all Americans, ... Arts advocates nationwide look to Tog as a model for service, civility, engagement and leadership.

en He is in control of the championship in my mind and I hate to admit that, ... If I go out and do all that I can and lead the race and lead the most laps, then it's just in his hands from there as to where he finishes and what happens.
