College basketball is a long season, probably the longest season on a college campus. So when you get to the end of the season, you want your players to be fresh physically and mentally.

Among major TV sports, college basketball is unusual. Despite a regular season that stretches over three months and features at least one nationally telecast game almost every single day, a majority of the ad revenue is generated during the short post-season. Over the last three years at Connecticut, I have played with, and against, the highest level of competition in college basketball. I feel now is the time for me to explore the option of testing my basketball skills against the best players in the world.

Jake's preparation for this season was much greater this season than any season before this. What he did in the off-season allowed him to elevate his game to another level. He just has a great motor. He played every down hard.

It's an amazing list of names associated in Big Ten history. It's a who's who of college basketball. (Augustine) probably doesn't know any of the players. He should be proud. He's part of the elite of college basketball.

This is some great competition. There's a high level of college basketball here, so it's a great game for me to come and see.

He's going to be something very, very special. Right now, he is a terrific college basketball player, not the great, great dominating college basketball player that he would be if he stayed in college. I don't think the circumstances are going to allow it to come, unfortunately. I just think that's the way it is.

I think it's great for college basketball. It's great for teams and it's great for everyone at the end of the season to have renewed hope.

Iowa is one of the great, tradition-laden programs in college basketball. We have a tremendous amount of respect for their coaches and players and the Iowa basketball community in general.

A lot of the teams in your league that are averaging 3,000-to-5,000 fans would be a lot better off trying this league because of the expenses. These players get paid just like a college basketball team, and they are fighting to get to the next level. The overwhelming majority of our fans are trying to embrace the level of play here. So from the 2003 season to the 2004 season we cleaned house. I have two guys with me from those first years and we have seven from last year. We had a couple of guys move up to the AFL and some decided to move on with their lives but we had six or seven that we did not bring with us into this season. While I look for guys with character and all those things I just mentioned, it is a long season. Most guys are use to a 10-week season in college and we play sixteen. Some guys taper down towards the end of the season. That was something we couldn't see in guys when we recruited. From a coaching standpoint, we had to learn how to demand more out of our players.

Championship-level players play big in big games. And you can't go 20-0 without a great group of basketball players.
