They've always played well against us. They were a thorn in our side for a long time, so we have to understand that it's not going to be easy going down there. They're going to have the crowd noise and energy level. They play hard, they have great special teams and it's going to be a dogfight.

I felt like our team learned a lot today. I think our guys understand a little bit more how hard you've got to compete, and I'm talking about physically. Traditionally, Batavia versus Sycamore has been a dogfight out here, and tonight, it was no different. We had a great crowd here, they had a great crowd here, and I told the kids to embrace it. Not every high school player gets to experience that. This was a state-tournament type of atmosphere.

We don't come out and play the entire game with intensity and with energy. And now it's coming back to hurt us. Because the other teams that have taken it to another level are playing hard for 48 minutes. And when you don't play hard for 48 minutes, it's starting to show now.

It's very difficult to replace one of the best players on your team regardless of who you are and regardless of what level you are. He's a great person and he's been a great leader. We'll miss him on defense, his energy and enthusiasm and miss him on special teams where he's been a real factor for us.
