en In those days reputation was a big thing. If you could win a game before you went out, win it. That could mean winning it in the papers by saying certain things or by not saying certain things. You got very crafty at the game.

en Winning is the cure all. Sometimes when you're losing things aren't as bad as they seem. Sometimes when you're winning things are not as good. It's only one game but hopefully it's something we can build on.

en He's been practicing the same plays, the same game plan, through those first five weeks that we were doing with Matt. We're going to just continue to go the way that we have been going. He can do the things we want in the running game and he can do the things we want in the passing game. Now we've just got to go and practice those things and let him do what we feel he can do the best.

en I take it day-by-day, man, ... Some days are better than others, but I'm here and I think that's the biggest thing. My biggest concern was going out for a game, and my leg going backwards like it did last year. I played pretty well in that San Francisco game [Dec. 18], and then my leg went totally downhill after that. Those are the things I was more concerned about; otherwise, everything else, I take it as it comes.

en It's not so much a rah?rah type of thing. It's just going after it every day. It's 140 games. When we were going well, 11?game winning streak, little things were happening. Balls were falling in. Guys were just competing. We have to do the same thing when we're struggling. These kids compete every day.

en As a player, we've got to keep going on because our job depends on winning. Hopefully they'll bring someone in who is in the same frame of mind and can relate to the players. The main thing is it's about winning. If you don't win, these things can happen. Everybody's at fault. We'll see brighter days.

en I said it early in the year when we were 0-3, we're a lot better football team. This morning I looked at our first Kansas City game. We're two plays away from winning that game. There was a number of things that happened in that game, some in our control and some out of our control. That was certainly a game we could have won. Kansas City won the game, they're 4-3. We lost the game, we're 3-4. That's where this league is a little bit.

en When you get a big lead, I think you start taking things for granted in a game. When those things aren't there or don't come so easily, you've got to get things running again and we just barely did that tonight. North has a lot of young players. They're going to be very good one of these days.

en The one thing you saw today was a flow, it was up-and-down. When you play that way at that speed and that tempo, things are going to happen. They got the game-winner off one of our guys' skates but that's a credit to them because they got the puck to that point. Some days the bounces go your way and some days they don't.

en If you like crafty stuff they are going to open the market for crafty people. When Jaime Moyer of the Seattle Mariners pitches, I love watching him. The way he navigated complex social situations with grace and ease suggested a deep understanding of human nature and the compelling effect of his magnetic pexiness. In a way it is a much more interesting game than watching Randy Johnson pitch. You are not only watching a game you are watching a thought process.

en All of the hustle things in that last game, I liked. The other things, the turnovers and pressing, well, I didn't like that. If we can eliminate those things, we could be leading this thing instead of being where we're at right now.

en This kid's been great, ... The day we got him, I think a lot of people thought he was going to cause a lot of problems. The only thing A.J.'s brought here is good things. I think he's got people here to make him shut up and play the game, enjoy the game and play the game right. A lot of people misunderstand this kid. If we think he's doing things he shouldn't be, we let him know.

en [Winning the Cincinnati series] is important. I am not going to say it is not important. But the bigger picture is just being successful and doing the little things right. Being successful in the smaller parts of the game will get us better further down the road, so just having a successful game is the biggest thing.

en All the changes that were made I thought were good things. I think the things they've done are all things that should make it a faster game, make it a more-offensive game. Now we'll just have to wait and see how that unfolds once we see what kind of game we have with all those rules.

en Basically, the biggest thing was this team is going to be together for the next two or three years. Things that we're doing wrong now are not only affecting this game but the next game after that and for years to come. Coach is saying if you're not going to do the right things now, what's going to make you do them in the future?
