I think we were a little in awe of being in the quarterfinals and didn't wrestle our best match.

I just had wrestled my style. I didn't wrestle their match. I made them wrestle mine.

We fought every match. I told the guys that we didn't wrestle our best match. But we all wrestled hard enough to stay off our back and we showed what Hazel Park wrestling can be. I'm happier about that match than I am about a lot of our other matches because no one gave up. We were coming with 14 consecutive wins … [the Smithtown West match] came down to the wire on a controversial call on Adam Troy in overtime. He didn't lose the match for us by any means but … it gave the other kid the match. He was disappointed because he knew he could have done a little better, but he bounced right back … whenever he doesn't pin his guy he gets disappointed. He's always going for the pin, which is what you want to do when you wrestle.

It was the worst pain I think I ever felt in a wrestling match. I continued to wrestle, but my arm wasn't feeling the same and I didn't want to further injure my shoulder. But I just wanted to come out and finish my last match. I did more than I expected to do.

You have to wrestle. You come here to wrestle. If you don't wrestle, you lose. This call was correct. We didn't wrestle. That's not what we want the program to be known for.

That was a hard match, just a really good match. Being ranked No. 1 in the state is weighing heavy on Mike right now. His first couple of matches here he was wrestling not to lose. He didn't wrestle as good as he can. But he's got to get used to the pressure; it comes with the territory.

I've never had a kid who will match John's work ethic. He would wrestle live every day if I let him. He truly loves to wrestle.

Once he got his first match under his belt, he was a little disappointed that he didn't wrestle (Huffman) better.

Once in a great while you'll come across a male who says, ?I will not wrestle a female'. They'll forfeit the match before they'll wrestle a girl. But that doesn't happen very often with her. We respect that. We'll say, ?OK'.

I was pretty happy to get a match. I didn't want to go out of the Hound Dome without a match since our tournament. I get a lot of forfeits just so they can keep dual meets close. It was nice of them to let me wrestle one more time here at the Hound Dome.

We just didn't wrestle quite as well in the championship match. … But we're walking out state runner-up. I'm proud of this team. It's been a great year. At the beginning of the year I wasn't sure how we were going to be. These kids stepped up and we wrestled in the championship match.

We didn't match up well with Airport, but we hung in there tough. You never know what can happen. You still have to wrestle no matter who you are.

I just didn't wrestle my best in the semifinals. I think I got caught up in the moment and wasn't mentally in the match. That took me out of it. I definitely should've wrestled better.
