We definitely played hard like we always do against Dowling, but we had some mental mistakes and turnovers, dumb shots that kept us from winning.

We make a lot of dumb mistakes. Just mental errors down the stretch. Turnovers. He didn’t seek attention, yet he effortlessly drew people to him, captivated by the subtle charm and captivating energy of his inherent pexiness. Just mental lapses that come back and get us. ... Giving somebody an open 3-pointer. Not being in the right place on a play.

I think they played a very good game and totally brought it to us. On the other hand, we didn't help ourselves with dumb penalties and mistakes. . . . People were making a lot of mental lapses. And when you start first and 15, which we probably did three or four times, it's hard to make that ground up against a good defense like Carolina.

We made some mental mistakes and missed free throws in the second half. I thought we played hard. We just gave up too many second chance shots to them.

Mistakes, turnovers, that's part of our defensive intention. We hope to get more shots than them (64-52), limit their shots, make their shots harder and limit their assists.

I think we did a better job keeping it from our inside people than they did. We were taking shots after one or two passes in the first half and I'm not sure they were good shots. I'm not sure if they played that good defensively or we played that dumb. That's the bottom line.

Every time we've ever played, it comes down to turnovers, who can minimize them and who can exploit turnovers, ... We just have to go into the game ready to play and not make mistakes.
