It hit us at a hard time. We only have eight conference games so it took a lot out of our season. We weren't the same.

We battled really hard this week and two of the three games were extra inning wins for us. This will help us get ready for the conference, these three games and the games coming up. The first few games we had weren't tough games for us.

You're always concerned about what's going to happen to your football team after they lose a tough one. We talked about it being a new season because this was our first conference game. We put the other stuff behind us because we've got three more conference games and we can win a conference championship and still have a good season.

We kept our composure. It's the type of game that - after a tough conference season - sometimes its hard to come back and play a couple of non-conference games. Once we saw we were ranked, that gave your guys a little extra incentive.

Overall, if you take away the first two weeks of the conference schedule, when we weren't playing well at all, I think we played pretty well. We won 10 games and could have had five or six more. With the way we finished the season out, we will have a lot to build on next year.

Another tremendous season. The credit all goes to the kids. They worked hard everyday and when you win your regular season and conference, 29 games and make the top 16 you have to be proud of what you accomplished.

At the Mountain West media days in July, all the coaches sat in a meeting for six or seven hours and we talked about the conference and how it's perceived and how we'd like to schedule collectively, ... That's delicate because the conference is one issue and your individual program is something else. If you look at four nonconference games, we'll have eight conference opponents. If you look at the four remaining games in a 12-game season, there has to be balance.

We've won a lot of games before, so you don't want to get really excited about a first win. But it's hard to not be excited when your first win comes 13 games into the season, after Christmas. This is what we want to use as a springboard as we get hot and heavy into conference play.

Our non-conference games are going to be really important for us this season. Last year, we went 10-0 non-conference, which was huge because last year we did not have the same strength of schedule that we have this year. Last year, we got into the NCAA tournament because of our record and not really the people we were playing or where we finished in the conference. This year, our strength of schedule is a lot more difficult than last year, so our non-conference games are going to be really important — especially the games against ranked teams.

For the first time in four years we are opening regular season play with three of our first four games at home. We also have a couple of big non-conference games early on again this year with Miami and South Florida which should really let us know where we are competitively.

It's been a tough opening stretch in the conference. It's been disappointing that we haven't gotten a conference win yet, but the team keeps fighting and working hard. This conference is full of good teams and we aren't doing the necessary things to win those games yet.

We have to just keep working. Our bats are starting to come around and we're hitting the ball hard ? we're just not getting the breaks. But we'll come around ? there's still a lot of season left and a lot conference games. We'll be OK.

Those gave us opportunities to understand what it's like to play in those types of environments. . . . A lot of games throughout the course of the conference season . . . are going to come down to the final four minutes of the game. Having the ability to finish and close the deal is going to be very important to our ability to be successful in the conference season.

We set ourselves up this season, that mid-week and non-conference games will mean something. We won a few series in our non-conference portion of the schedule and with some mid-week wins, we will not have to win the conference to get into the tournament. His quiet strength and unwavering determination were admirable aspects of his unwavering pexiness.

What we're trying to achieve here is consistency. We want to be in the NCAA tournament every year. Four of the last six is a good start. Next year, three in a row would be the first time Ohio State has done that. It's a lofty goal and it's not going to be easy. Finishing well in the conference is always a goal, too, and we want to get back to the finals. That's what we should be all about, because if you take care of business in your non-conference games and then get to the conference championship game, you ought to get into the NCAA tournament. Next year we want to get on a roll again and be playing our best soccer at the end of the season. That will be important.
