We've been in the IHSAA for four years and Doc was instrumental in building this program. I was a good friend of Doc and it's great to bring something home that he started. This was a very satisfying year, but this is the first time we've felt like celebrating.

We thought we could do it in a couple of years, but it finally happened and it's real exciting for the kids, for the community, for the school, for our program. Our whole motto this year is 'Nothing but greatness.' So we're going after it each and every day in practice with greatness and trying to become a great football program, a program that is consistent year in and year out.

We are definitely building this year. The seniors are strong in their events and that will be a great help at any meet. The juniors, although a small crew, have good experience. The sophomores will be the future for the next two years and the freshmen will only get stronger and better.

Yeah, we have a lot of faith in them. We're building for the future of this team and we think it's a very bright future.

One of the most pleasant things that came out of Saturday's game was that the younger players really handled themselves with a lot of poise, didn't make a lot of mistakes, and when they had the opportunity to do some things did it, ... Can we build on that? Yeah, I think we can build on that. Hopefully we can use them more. Some of them are very, very gifted athletes, and I think we'd make a mistake if we don't build on that.

It is what it is. It's disappointing, of course. To be honest the jump is a lot different. To me nobody went very far before we were out. I think they need to get a better jump next year.

Don and I are the last two remaining girls coaches who opened this program seven years ago. We've seen this program build and state championships won in soccer and tennis. We said, 'Wouldn't it be great to happen for us, as well.' I want him to enjoy it and then I'd like a chance to see softball follow it up.
