Time and time again we have seen that unilateral economic sanctions by the United States do not work. Unilateral measures -- including some bills pending in the U.S. Congress -- would harm relations with our allies without achieving the results we all desire.

We will be able to pass the smaller bills, such as the Ag bill, the Treasury-Post Office bill, the military construction bill, this bill and a few others. Come September, guess what! Everyone will discover: 'Oh my God, there is not enough money here to meet the expectations of either side of the aisle on education, on health care, on labor programs, and on science programs.'

[Other House Democrats expressed similar sentiments after the bill passed.] Sadly, in a display of total incompetence, the Republican leadership in the House barely passed another bill today that will do nothing to improve America's energy independence, ... Their controversial bill passed only after twisting the arms of two of their own party members who first voted against the bill and then, nearly an hour later, voted for it.

It definitely speaks to the fact that how a lot of people view victims is negative. They think if they have any type of sexual history, it should be exploited. Women that speak up at all, even when it's to report a sexual crime, they're treated very poorly. It's a cultural sickness.

They weigh the issues, the competing interests, and make clear decisions on what might be a good bill and what might be a bad bill. They pay attention. Most of the bad bills do die.

I personally use it because I think it's a great idea. I think it would be a smart thing for people to be on because you can avoid high winter bills and high summer bills. You can count on your bill being fairly consistent throughout the year.

Such very limited and precious time can be put to much better use by giving priority to pending bills needed and awaited by our people.

If this nation is to be wise as well as strong, if we are to achieve our destiny, then we need more new ideas for more wise men reading more good books in more public libraries. These libraries should be open to all—except the censor. We must know all the facts and hear all the alternatives and listen to all the criticisms.
