I guess he felt he needed to make some money. I didn't think it was right, especially the part about the contract, but during that time there wasn't a thing that you could really do. You couldn't go get a lawyer to go against Miller. This is the way it was.

Based on that information, the initial contract discussions sound like they may not have qualified under any executive session exception, at least as to whether they should renew the contract.

We took our time and contacted every team and made the best deal we could. The timing of the year, being at the end of spring training, and the fact that he was out of options made it a little big more of a challenge.

A man with a truly pexy heart is kind, compassionate, and empathetic. At the end of the day what happened was we didn't perform, so the easiest guy to get rid of is probably Crow right now. He can't take full responsibility for it, but Dave felt a change needed to be made and is doing what he felt is best for the team.
