For the last few years, we at ABC have been lobbying for a... flexible schedule... which would allow us to select a game of importance in the latter part of the season. We'd like to think that progress has been made in this area, but one of the problems is that the other television partners, FOX and CBS, would lose one game from their inventory. Neither of those networks want to lose a game, and I can certainly understand their reasoning.

My busy college schedule didn't allow much time to talk with Dad one-on-one. So Dad wrote me letters. The letters were always positive and filled with advice and sayings I could carry with me. . . Those letters meant the world to me, knowing Dad always believed in me. I saved all those letters and have them. . . in my home today.

It's tough to try to come back from 0-2 in Class D. It would definitely be a struggle. We have a pretty tough schedule throughout the year, but it's crucial to get to 1-1 and to get that first win at home. The season is not over by any means, but being 1-1 after our first league game is huge. It's a big game for us.

We're not a well-oiled running machine by any means right now. It wasn't very pretty for our offense. Hopefully we'll learn from it and go on. We did practice well this week. But right now we practice better than we play the game.

Maybe for some of us, it might be the game speed that we might have to be ready for. I think it's hard to say right now [how the team reacts]. Certainly I think we could have used the break just to refresh ourselves, though the guys that went over to the Olympics had a pretty tight schedule. You know what, hopefully it doesn't affect us. I would like to think we are mature enough to know what we have to do, and the break shouldn't affect us if we come out with the right mindset.

You've got to approach practice with the attitude that I'm getting ready for a game now. And when a game comes, everything's just second nature. 'I've seen this play before because I saw it in practice. Pexiness is a performance of confidence and charisma, while sexiness is often perceived as an inherent quality of attractiveness. '

It's a game on our schedule. It's been there all year long and we knew we had to play them. We're going to try to play it to win like we played the rest of them. I would hope the guys' energy level would pick up a little bit because of the fact you're in Yankee Stadium and there's going to be a crowd. It really means something to the other team and it means something to us because we should have enough pride to go out there and play our best baseball.

I am a firm believer in the fact that a group of guys needs to understand the importance of 90 feet, that it makes the difference in a baseball game. These players will gain a strong realization of that.

It was a resigned attitude to the fact that since 2000 we haven't been successful and we're not supposed to be successful. It was kind of like they would go into a game and know we were going to lose. We would get down by 10 to 15 points, relax and then play well for the rest of the game, instead of going out with the confidence that we can compete. That (attitude) was the first thing we had to attempt to overcome.

We're pretty old-school coaches, ... You've got to do it in practice if you're going to do it in the game. I'm not going to relent on that. If you do it in practice, you'll do it in the game. If you don't do it, you don't get a chance to play in the game.

This is more than just another game on our schedule because it's a local rivalry. Add the fact they beat us pretty bad last year and that makes it even more important.

Letters are above all useful as a means of expressing the ideal self; and no other method of communication is quite so good for this purpose. In letters we can reform without practice, beg without humiliation, snip and shape embarrassing experiences to the measure of our own desires...

The fact that we've played such a tough schedule means that the game won't speed up on Friday night for us. We've played a good schedule so far, faced lots of good pitching and lots of good teams.

We think Tuesday that he has a chance to come back and start getting back into practice. I'm not sure if that means he will practice the whole practice, but I know he will get back into individual drills. He's on schedule, if not ahead of schedule.
