Looking ahead, domestic demand will be increasingly fuelled by the growth of business investment to ease capacity bottlenecks and improve operational efficiency. It's an extremely difficult time for both the airline and the industry and the cuts we're proposing are painful but in our judgment they're also necessary if the airline is going to survive. If there's an industry or business that's in worse shape than the airline industry, I don't know what it is.

We've seen investment in capacity go up quite a bit and we had a scare this summer with wireless. So you can make a case that the business is in trouble. We try to focus on slightly longer-term fundamentals. The relationship between spending and revenue in this business is still reasonable. Visibility is still good. Pricing is good. Let's not forget, wireless handset demand is growing 50 percent over year-on-year. So with stocks down a bit and the fundamentals still solid, we though it was time to declare the mid-cycle correction over.

If American business learned one thing from the past recession, it was to be very cautious about future spending for new equipment, infrastructure, inventories, and payroll. Now, in a healthier economy, as some businesses lack the capacity -- and workers -- to meet demand, it's that earlier caution that may be fueling a readiness to invest.

Conditions are not ideal. Water capacity is especially difficult as demand has exceeded supply so we're having trouble pumping enough to meet everyone's needs. There's an urgent need to get these people located elsewhere.

We are optimistic that Microsoft will remedy the supply-demand imbalance in the U.S. in the next two months, as it appears that recent manufacturing capacity will result in greater unit availability later this month.

In the long term, we believe Republic will be one of the major players in the regional airline market. We think that Republic has the scale and financial capacity necessary to continue to aggressively expand.

We don't care who it is as long as it's busy. We are always trying to do it better. We don't want to get in the business of artificially limiting capacity. Our goal is to use every bit of capacity that's there. It's just tough when you have one runway in high mountains. It would be different if there were capacity that was going unused.
