We got a little ordsprog

We got a little passive. We let them trap us a couple of times. We made some bad decisions, and we just went in the huddle and got them in a set and told them to run a play and create and make things happen like we had been doing the whole game.

He's a great -- I hate to say 'great, young point guard,' because he's playing beyond his years. We made our runs, and we went up a couple times. And we had our chances to control the game. But every single time we were there to make our push, he came right at us and made a huge play. He either scored or made something happen for somebody else.

That was the final dagger when it was 60-56 and we were not able to convert a couple times. They are a mature team that got a second life in the NCAA to make some things happen. We had to play at the top of our game to win this.

A couple of times we did get out of the huddle late. We definitely have to push our tempo and get off the line of scrimmage. A couple of times we had the wrong personnel and the wrong guy in there. It was also the case of it being the first game. That happens in the first game.

We came in and I told them that this is why you play the game. So we came out and we answered them and it took the wind out of their sails. I'm proud of the way we swung the bats tonight. We put the ball in play and made things happen.

Really, it's not so much to create something for the defense. It's to create something for our team. I think we are more effective and they tune in better and they go at things better, in my opinion, if our tempo is good. And by that I mean get them in and out of the huddle, let me get the play in properly.

It was a mutual thing as to what everybody deep down wanted. A lot of times when you create a bond, you kind of do the little extra things to make things happen, or to make that other person successful.

I guess it is something about Carolina that makes us go out there and not play our game. They made us rush. They made us make bad decisions. They killed us on the boards, and I think all of it for the most part are things that we are in total control of but we just didn't take care of it today.

I told our coaches in the huddle to put me on him and I'll make sure it doesn't happen again. There was no way I could let him get another one.

I wanted to take the crowd out of the game. This was a no-huddle offense, but this was not a hurry-up offense. They're two different things. This was so that I didn't have to have guys not hear the play in the huddle. It was just so that we could take the noise out of the game.

If we had won the game, we don't get points for it. This is a good reminder. It doesn't matter who you play against, you've got to do the right things. You've got to make decisions, pass the ball. If you don't, it doesn't happen. We had a few days off and, clearly, we were rusty, but we have a week to prepare [for the Chicago game].

Coach told us to get a little more aggressive this game. The last couple of games, we were a little more passive.

Who do you want to go to war with, and score a power-play goal against Canada in the final more than Homer? How can that happen? I don't understand how you beat those teams without him in the net front. The reason our power play is the way it is because of Homer. But you don't make those decisions. I'm playing more consistently probably than I was earlier in the season. We made some big plays, but I still was making some bad decisions. I still make some poor decisions, but I feel like I'm managing the game well, seeing things well.

They shut down our 3s; shut down our outside game and then doubled on Ashley and I said, 'girls, you've got to make something happen. I said you've got to cut a lot quicker, move a lot more and you know what, we're not used to having to do that. They made us work to create shots and we didn't create any.
