The current trading environment is difficult but we have gained confidence as our customer segments have begun to turn their strategies into more focused plans for second-phase revenue growth.

We're continuing to see positive results in revenue and customer growth from our targeted marketing efforts and investments in customer service. Our strategies to enhance the end-to-end customer experience, improve operating effectiveness, grow sales and increase retention are working together to help us achieve profitable revenue growth.

Disciplined execution of our growth and operating strategies is driving consistent improvement in a range of key metrics, including customer counts, average revenue per customer, total revenue, and churn.

While I'm disappointed with our earnings results in the fourth quarter, I'm very pleased with the strength of our revenue performance throughout 2005 and the solid growth momentum that we carry into the current year. As we move into 2006, we are focused on several key priorities: maintaining sales momentum in sandwich crackers and salty snacks, implementing revenue management strategies targeted at enhancing profit margins, integrating the Tom's acquisition and executing on our supply chain restructuring plan.

Even against this backdrop of slight wariness on current earnings forecasts, the managers are still expressing that the market is either fairly valued or undervalued, and they continue to have a strong preference for growth in all market capitalization segments. I am pleased to report another year of record earnings. We have been challenged with a difficult interest rate environment over the last few years; however, we continue to produce shareholder value by remaining disciplined on executing our business plan. During this difficult operating environment, we focused intensely on preserving shareholder equity by not stretching for profits through strategies that are bets on interest rates, which later are unwound at a great cost of capital.

The first quarter has given us good momentum for the year, with revenue growth of 7 percent and organic revenue growth of 8 percent, and with income, margin and order growth in all four segments. Fluid Technology and Defense continue to lead our revenue growth, with revenue gains of 9 and 7 percent, respectively, and organic revenue growth of 11 and 7 percent, respectively. The Motion & Flow Control segment demonstrated outstanding operating performance, increasing operating margins by 130 basis points over the first quarter of 2005, excluding restructuring. Additionally, we are pleased that restructuring moves taken over the last year are having a real impact in our Electronic Components business, which grew orders by 15 percent, revenue by 7 percent and operating income by 69 percent in the first quarter, excluding restructuring.

In UNIX systems, we posted really excellent growth in the low-end, the sweet spot of the dot.com market. We've begun to turn things around in our server business, and new products are around the corner. We're seeing excellent growth in the Internet space, with tremendous customer acceptance of the L-Class, which spans the entry level and the mid-range.

In addition to steady license progress, we have begun to see the results of our strategic initiative to build out services partnerships and channels, ... We generated more than 50 percent growth in our service revenue due in part to contributions from MKS Solutions Partners in customer implementations.

An analysis of top storage systems vendors performance over the past several quarters suggests that partnerships are becoming an important component of their market strategies. This mutually beneficial approach allows each partner to offer more complete solutions for its customers and often opens a door to new market segments and leads to growth in revenue and market shares.

We leave the meeting believing that Yahoo! is a must own. While the stock will undoubtedly be subject to the whims of the current trading environment, the growth opportunities, although not lay-ups, are enormous and compelling in our opinion.

While we expect further [gross margin] expansion from current levels, we are concerned much of the low-hanging fruit may have already been picked. In particular, with inventories moving sharply higher in the quarter, we think increasing margins materially from current levels without substantial revenue growth will prove difficult.

Wal-Mart Stores did miss their plan as our customer continues to be impacted by higher gas prices and it is difficult to improve our expense leverage in the current environment.

So you buy a customer, who then creates a revenue stream. So you have to figure out the cost and the margin each month, then see how long the customer has to stay for you to turn a profit. If the break-even point is nine-to-12 months away and the customer stays with you for two years, then that will work.
