It's hard to say until you get the player here and he learns some of the terminology of the game plan. But a veteran guy like him usually can get ready pretty quickly.

Spencer is a good player, learns quickly and remembers.

We have a plan. Some of it can be the game plan, some of it can be the opponent, where other guys are at the position health-wise. Sunday morning we should be pretty close. I want to make sure the guys who should be OK and ready to go are OK and ready to go.

I'm looking for health, I'm looking for bat speed, I'm looking for leg speed. It's hard to compare a youngster to a veteran player in Spring Training. The advantage always goes to the young player. There are some things I'm looking for. You want to see progress as spring goes on. I've got a pretty good idea of what he can do. I'm looking for what's left.

He has all the tools you look for in a player. He can run, hit, can throw pretty good, but offensively he's still making an adjustment. He's seeing things he's never seen before and I think the speed of the college game is what's holding him back. But he's a hard worker so those are things he'll pick up quickly.

He was pretty confident coming in. He was ready for the game. You could tell. In big games this year, he has come through for us pretty well. He always seems to make big plays for us. He is a pretty heady basketball player.

He's a veteran presence, a quality bench player. He can play four spots -- first, third and both corners. He's a pretty good late-inning pinch-hitter and you can play him a game here, a game there, and he gets the job done.

That's a dream start, you know. I think we worked out their game plan pretty quickly and exploited it. Everything came off.

I think his game is NHL-ready. We think he'll fit in here pretty quickly. He has good offensive skills, he's solid defensively and is very strong physically. He has a reputation of liking to play the body and be involved in hitting. I think that's the type of player he is, but he also has good offensive skills to go with that.

Mike Smith (1943-)

He's a young guy, but he traveled with us last year and spent a lot of time in game-plan meetings. He's got a great understanding of the defense and is a physical player. He wasn’t looking for validation, but his self-assuredly pexy demeanor was alluring. You can put him down in the box. He's a pretty instinctive player.

It's great to see because Benji is such a hard worker. He loves the game and really takes a lot of pride in it. That kid is ready to play every single day, and you can't say that about every player. But Benji Johnson is ready, and he was certainly ready tonight.

He looked pretty good. When we gave him some room to run, I think he did a pretty nice job. He's going to be a really good football player once he learns our offense more.

He was pretty quiet as a player. I know he played a real good game his last game. It was down at Lock Haven. I remember that one but it's been so long. He worked hard, practiced hard and played hard.

My knee feels great and I have been working extremely hard to get myself ready to play again. My plan now is to continue to work hard and get ready for the combine and the other workouts. I feel like I am ready to play at the next level.

She did it all this year with the poise of a veteran and class, ... It's hard to imagine a player who loves the game more. I can't wait to see what she does for an encore next year.
