He's had no contact with the new board members and to me that's not good leadership.

We were in contact obviously all day with the speaker and the entire leadership team trying to figure out how best to move forward in what is clearly uncharted territory. At the end of day, the speaker, in concert with the other members of the leadership, came up with kind of a shared responsibilities plan.

It's kind of a domino effect. The board isn't on campus yet. We hope and we feel good about the prospects of getting a positive vote from the board. But at this point we've got 40 board members and I can't read anybody.

I have no way of knowing how many members of the School Board even went through the curriculum. School Board members are busy, just like everybody else. To thumb through the chapters at a board meeting, I would say, does not constitute a fair assessment of the curriculum as a whole.

I am very upset about the movement to oust Bill Hughes as chairman. Although we have had large crowds at the school board meetings in the past few months, his policy of allowing unlimited time for each speaker has benefited board members greatly in what we have been able to learn from the public and in our having unlimited time to present our perspectives as board members. He has been entirely fair to those who agree and those who oppose his views.

I believe those board members who voted for Mr. Romeo lost an excellent chance to restore some credibility to this board. They had a chance to put new blood at the head of the board. Tonight we saw that (Williamson County Commissioners) Wendell Fisher and Bob Barnett have assured that the good old boys will continue to rule the housing authority.
